The drug "Venter" is available in the form of oval white tablets, having a notch in the center from both sides. The active ingredient is sucralfate, auxiliary substances: talc, corn starch, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

The drug "Venter". Description

The drug is part of the pharmacotherapeutic group of agents for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux and peptic ulcer.

Sucralfate (the active ingredient) provides protection of the gastric mucosa, slightly affecting the acidity of the juice. The substance does not have a systemic effect. A small amount of sucralfate is absorbed, then excreted by the kidneys.

The active component is able to bind to proteins in the necrotic tissue on the site of the ulcer, to form a protective coating. This prevents the action of bile salts, acid gastric juice and pepsin. Sucralfate can reduce the activity of pepsin by about a third.

The active ingredient accelerates the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, eliminates mild and small esophageal inflammation. In addition, the substance prevents repeated development of duodenal ulcers, the formation of stress ulcers and the absorption of phosphate in the digestive tract.

The drug is recommended for the treatment of gastritis (chronic). As an auxiliary therapy, the drug "Venter" instruction allows for use in duodenal, gastric ulcers. In addition, the drug is recommended as a prophylaxis for the repeated development of these diseases, as well as to reduce hyperphosphataemia in patients who are on dialysis, who have uremia.

The drug should be taken on an empty stomach, an hour or half an hour before a meal. Tablets can be swallowed whole, washed down with liquid (water), or dissolved in water (in half a glass).

When duodenal or gastric ulcer is prescribed for a pill before every reception of (basic) food (dinner, lunch, breakfast) and one pill before bedtime. The duration of treatment should not be more than twelve weeks. The doctor can recommend the use of the drug twice a day for two tablets. The "Venter" medication recommends the use of four to eight weeks or until the results of the studies confirm the elimination of the ulcer.

To prevent recurrences (repeated occurrences) of duodenal ulcers, it is recommended to take a pill twice a day.

If necessary, in children from the age of four, the drug "Venter", the instruction allows it, is applied on 0.5-1 g four times a day for an hour before dinner, lunch and breakfast and before bedtime.

Adverse reactions from the use of the drug may be flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, dry mouth, nausea and other gastrointestinal disorders. In addition, itching, hives, rashes, back pain, headache, drowsiness or insomnia, dizziness may occur. The most common adverse manifestation is constipation.

Medication "Venter" is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients.

Intoxication from a single increased dose of sucralfate is unlikely. Some patients noted vomiting, stomach pain and nausea when taking the drug in large amounts. In case of an overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended.

The use of the drug "Venter" during pregnancy and lactation is allowed in extreme cases as prescribed by the doctor.

In clinical practice, cases of the effect of this medication on the ability to drive technical means (by car and others) are not described.

When appointing antacids simultaneously, it should be noted that they should be taken no less than half an hour before or one and a half hours after the drug "Venter".

Shelf life of the drug is three years, at a temperature of less than twenty-five degrees, inaccessible to children and protected from moisture place. After this period, the drug can not be used.
