Marble caves in the Crimea - a unique creation of nature

Marble caves in Crimea are one of the most popular tourist attractions. They are located near the city of Alushta, in the mountains Chatyr-Dag.

The uniqueness of the cave

The plateau of Chatyr-dag mountain massif somehow resembles the surface of the moon. The fact is that it is stained with cavities, depressions and depressions. In total, on this plateau there are more than 160 karst caves, a number of wells and mines. Among the many beautiful places Chatyr-Dag is particularly distinguished Marble Cave. In Crimea (the address can not be exactly named, but an approximate location - near the village of Mramornaya) you can book an excursion to this landmark. The Marble Cave was opened in 1987. It is at a fairly decent altitude - 920 meters above sea level. The base of the cave is made up of limestones. Now it is divided into three main parts. The uniqueness of the cave determines its popularity: it is one of the most frequently visited caves in Europe. Bizarre rocks, stones, stalagmites and other formations give it a fabulous appearance. Now the Marble Cave in the Crimea (photo is confirmed) is a well-equipped cave.

Speleocomplex

Under the name "Marble Cave" is meant a whole speleocomplex, which includes the equipped cave Emine-Bair-Khosar and a number of unequipped ones: the Millennium, the Cold, the Three-Eyes.

Fairytale Gallery

So, as noted above, the natural monument consists of three parts: the Main Gallery, the Lower Gallery and the Tiger Route. The excursion is 1 km. In total, 2 kilometers of the cave with a depth of 60 meters are known.

The first on the way of tourists is the Fairy Tale Gallery. Here and in fact you can see many fairy-tale heroes. It is hard to believe that these figures were created not by the hands of man, but by nature itself for many centuries. So, tourists can see stalactites, reminiscent of Santa Claus, Mamontenka, Frog princess. There is also a real Master of the mountain here. Stalactites and stalagmites form quaint stone draperies in the Fairy Tales Gallery, giving the cave an enchanting charm. The gallery is perfectly illuminated, which allows us to examine its features well.

Tiger's move

In this gallery the arch is much lower. In it are visible water-washed depressions, shaped like bells and covered with stalactites. A wide smooth tunnel leads to the gallery. The tiger's move is divided into separate halls by columns of rocks. On the floor are visible grooves with water. In this hall rocks form curtains and stone waterfalls. The tiger's move is known for its well of 6 meters deep. Once upon a time archaeologists found the bones of a cave bear.

Marble caves in the Crimea - this is an opportunity to plunge into a fairy tale. Here you can see the fossilized head of a dragon, and in some places, centuries ago, rich palaces and castles were erected by nature itself.

Hall of adjustment

This is another gallery of the Marble Cave, along which the tourist route passes. It is very dark here, but the light of the searchlights cuts the underground darkness, and the hall seems to come to life, striking in its dimensions. It is one of the largest underground caves in the world, the area of which is 4 km 2 . The vault reaches a height of 20 meters. The floor is covered with huge boulders.

Marble caves in Crimea are famous for their stone flowers. So, in the room of Perestroika and the Tiger Pass you can see a whole wall of corallites in the form of flowers. The walls are covered with sculpted water and time by corallites in the form of fantastic fairy flowers, and the length of the "glade" is about 40 meters.

The Hall of Perestroika is known for its Fallen Tower. This is a huge stalagmite oblong in shape, outwardly resembling a tower lying on its side. Its length reaches 7 meters. Next to her laced lace - it's gourd lakes, at the bottom of which there is a so-called cave pearl.

Palace and Clay Halls

Marble caves in the Crimea in connoisseurs-speleologists are associated with the largest calcite dam in Europe. The width of the base of the dam exceeds 50 meters. Being on it, you can see the Palace Hall, where there are majestic stalagmite king and queen, and next to them their faithful retinue - columns of various sizes and shapes. On all the way, there are gullies. The last room is clay. It is not as bright as others, but there is more to admire here. Clay Hall completes the main gallery of the cave.

Lower gallery

The last point on the route of the tourist route. It is a geological reserve in which many valuable minerals have been discovered. There is not just a wall, but a whole Pink Hall. Stalagmites and corallites here form an ensemble, chaotically located throughout the space. In the lower gallery there is a Hall of Hopes, the Hall Balcon and Luster, whose names speak for themselves. Unlike the Pink Hall, they create a sense of harmony. Very beautiful are the Ballroom and the riverbeds. The Relict Hall closes. From here the cave moves into different directions into darkness. Tourists are forbidden to go here, but the speleologists have already visited a number of these passages. Specialists and to this day are interested in Marble caves in the Crimea.

How to get to the caves?

Practically in every corner of this wonderful peninsula you can buy tickets for the sightseeing bus. You can get by public transport, the next from Simferopol to Yalta. Exit follows the village Zarechnoye or Mramornoe (the distance between them is small). And already 8 kilometers from these villages is located the Marble Cave in the Crimea. The map shows that the distance from these villages is almost the same. You can take a walk or ask the local people to bring you. Throughout the route there will certainly be pointers to the cave.

If you came to rest on your car, then you should visit the Marble caves in the Crimea. How to get there by car? On the highway Yalta-Simferopol to the village Zarechnoye, and from there turn right (if you go from Simferopol). On the way there will be a village called Marble. Then follow the signs for the cave. The road leading to the cave is country, so it is rather uneven. However, it is easy to drive through it even on the most ordinary car. Near the cave there is a parking lot.

Tips for tourists

  1. In caves there are always low temperatures even in the hottest time of the year. Tourists should not forget that they descend deep into the ground. It is necessary to stock up on warm clothes (the temperature in the caves is +9 о С). At the entrance give jackets for hire, so you need to take care of shoes.
  2. It is better to book a longer excursion in time. In half an hour it is impossible to see all the beauty of the caves. A short excursion does not justify the means spent on it.
  3. For fans of extreme sports and active recreation, Crimean residents offer special speleotry. In this case, wear a tracksuit and comfortable sneakers with a non-slip sole. As a rule, such tours last about 3 hours. This is a great way to personally see the beauty of the cave, touch them and try to conquer the abyss.
  4. Photographing caves is better along the way forward, not back. Each sight, with which the Marble caves in Crimea are famous, is besieged by crowds of tourists. On the way back, tour guides do not linger, so as not to interfere with their colleagues, so there is no time left in the photo.
