Landlord estates are a highlight of Russia

The interest of foreign tourists to Russia is unusually great. But what to show them first? Where is the story, than to surprise? Landlord estates should become a mandatory item in such an excursion program. After all, this is the highlight, which can be beneficial to represent the country in the international tourism market.

Within the European part of Russia, dozens of estates, dated by different centuries, have been preserved. But all of them, no doubt, are very valuable. At the same time, old manors are not only interesting recreational and tourist sites. They are also of great importance for studying our past.

The very word "homestead" comes from the verb "plant" or "plant".

In this article we will discuss one of such objects. This is the Altufevo estate, an excursion into which will not be a problem for the residents of the Russian capital.

Origin of the name of the estate

The name of this or that object, the terrain is just as important as the name for the person. It is known that the Altufievo estate was originally called Oltufievo. Proceeding from this, the origin of the estate can be associated with the noble family Oltufiev, who once lived in Moscow. However, there is no written confirmation of this.

Over time, the name of the manor was slightly transformed. In particular, the first letter of the toponym changed to letter "A", which was more common for Moscow pronunciation.

In some sources one can also find the name Alsufievo. But where it came from is unknown. It is possible that this toponym was the consequence of a banal clerical misprint, committed inattentive clerk.

Manor in Altufevo (Moscow): an architectural complex

The complex of buildings of this manor is spread over an area of ten hectares. It includes the following buildings and buildings:

  • The Lord's house (1760).
  • The Holy Cross Temple (1763).
  • The stable of the manor (the middle of the XIX century).
  • Brewery (end of the XVIII century).
  • Outbuilding with cellars.
  • An artificial pond.

Manor of Altufevo: how to get there?

The estate is located on the northern tip of the capital, near the Moscow Ring Road. An ancient manor of the 18th century is safely hidden from the eyes of those passing by the ring drivers. However, finding a homestead on a map of Moscow is not so difficult. After all, she gave the name to a number of metropolitan objects: highway, pond, metro station and whole residential area.

Where is the estate of Altufevo? How to reach it the easiest?

The architectural complex is located near the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road and Altufevskoe Highway, on the shore of a small pond. The legal address of the estate: Highway Altufevskoe, possession 147-149.

The easiest way to get to the metro station "Altufevo", then walk a bit along the Altufevskoe highway in the northern direction.

History of the estate

The first written mention of this area dates back to 1585. Then the local lands owned by some Neupokoy Myakishev. He had a small wooden courtyard here, which soon burned down.

In 1786 the estate was purchased by Prince Stepan Kurakin, who began to actively build it. Unfortunately, only a brewery survived from those stone buildings. But the central building of the manor, which can be seen today, was built already with the new owner - Altufiev.

In the middle of the XIX century the estate passes to the civilian adviser Zherebtsov. He rebuilt the main house of the estate in the Old Russian style. In addition, the estate of Altufevo with it acquired a beautiful garden with greenhouses. Stallions also dug two ponds in the territory. One of them (the upper one along the current) has survived to the present day.

Manor of Altufevo changed its owners more than once. So, later, its owner was Georgiy Lianozov, who founded a holiday village nearby. Unfortunately, only one of those old cottages has survived: today it houses the V. Vasilyev Art Museum.

After the revolution of 1917, the estate of Altufevo became a hospital, and the local church was closed. In the early 1990s, the church was restored, but its original appearance was lost. Nevertheless, the manor church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Altufevo continues to adorn the coat of arms of the Lianozovo district.

The Lord's house and its architecture

The main and, perhaps, the most interesting building on the territory of the estate in Altufevo is the so-called Lord's house. The construction surprisingly combines elements of both ancient Russian stone and traditional wooden architecture.

The history of the Lord's house is very poorly understood. The local historians suppose that it was built in 1851 under NA Zherebtsov. However, the foundation and basement of the building clearly have a more substantial age. Most likely, the core of the structure was laid back in the 1760's.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Lord's house was slightly rebuilt under the Unkovskaya boarding school. Then, to its main volume, a one-storey wing was built. At the same time, the building was decorated with an elegant belvedere (to this day it has not survived).

Near the Lord's house there is a brewery - the oldest of all buildings of the estate, which has survived to the present day without significant changes (built at the end of the 18th century). Near the MKAD there is another building - a stable. However, local historians and historians can not establish its exact age.

Holy Cross Temple

The real decoration of the estate Altufievo is the temple of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord. On the shore of the pond, he looks unusually beautiful and solemn. The temple was built in 1760-1763 in the Baroque style. And the first church, standing on this place, is known since 1564. True, it was wooden.

At the end of the XVIII century the church was rebuilt in stone. Its main dome, as well as interior decoration dates back to the XIX century. According to written documents, the church was badly damaged during the Patriotic War of 1812.

In the mid-90s, the Cross Exaltation Church in Altufevo was substantially rebuilt. Experts are sure that this reconstruction significantly reduced the historical and architectural value of this building.

The architecture of the temple, in general, is typical for the so-called style of the Moscow Baroque. The building is cruciform in plan and single-domed (diameter of the dome - 12 meters). On three sides the church has apses. In the 90's, the area of the temple almost doubled, due to the construction of a new refectory. It not only distorted the external original appearance of the building, but also closed the Lord's house - the central structure of the manor.

The Holy Cross temple is surrounded (from the side of the pond) by a fence with two towers on the corners and a beautiful entrance gate in the center.

Finally...

In the north of Moscow, near the Moscow Ring Road, the unique estate complex Altufevo is preserved. The first mention of this estate dates back to 1585. Today the estate of Altufevo is one of the most valuable historical and architectural monuments of the capital.
