Biography of the poet

The poet was born on November 24, 1961 in Belarus, in the city of Bobruisk.

After graduating from the Moscow Machine Tool Institute, Leonid Shvab decided in 1990 to return to his homeland of his ancestors - to Israel. And to this day the poet lives in the capital, in Jerusalem.

Returning home greatly influenced the poet's work. In his poems, he does not impose the preferences of the culture in which he has lived for many years. But those principles that hold throughout the life of the poet can be seen in his work. This gives a special "zest" to his poems.

The beginning of the creative career of the poet

Speaking about himself, the author notes that it was the Roma whom he saw as a boy who helped him to make such a choice in the profession. According to the poet, the day when it happened, was gloomy and gray, and when he saw the bright gypsy company, he immediately noticed the one who changed his life perception. The gypsy was dressed in a suit with a gold tie that "sparkled right into the sky." Schwab himself notes that the gypsy, most likely, was in no way associated with literature, but his appearance and manners of behavior made Leonid yet quite young to choose his way of life.

The first steps to fame were the publication of articles in the magazine "Solar Plexus". Schwab was published in many journals, his articles deserved the approval of editors and readers.

Another important step, which predetermined the appointment of the poet in literary circles, was an article published by the magazine "Colon" on his pages. After the publication of his article, he was offered to write an article in another no less famous journal - "Critical Mass". After the articles printed in the magazines "Colon" and "Critical Mass" brought fame to the poet, L. Schwab began to receive various awards for his works. His efforts in the literary field were well deserved.

Leonid Schwab: poems of the first collection

The publishing house "Novoe literaturnoe obozrenie" decided to help the beginning writer and poet, and already in 2004 the first book of Schwab - "Believe in botany" - is published. The poet believes that it is important to know at least the approximate time of writing or writing, because as far as time is concerned, all people know too little, and it is impossible to remember all events.

Literary achievements of Leonid Shvab

Thanks to his articles, the publication of which was planned in advance, the poet managed to enter the short list of probable candidates for the Andrei Bely Award, which is considered the oldest independent Russian literary award. If Leonid Schwab got on the candidate lists in 2004, he was able to receive this award only in 2016. Schwab was awarded in the nomination "Poetry" for his collection of poems "Your Nicholas", which was published in 2015 by the publishing house "Novoe literaturnoe obozrenie".
