Drops 'Otypaks' - instructions for use

Otypax, the instruction for use of which is presented here, is a tool used in otology. The drug is a colorless solution, sometimes having a yellowish tinge, which smells of alcohol. In 16 g of the solution contains phenazone, as well as lidocaine hydrochloride. Of the auxiliary substances are: sodium thiosulfate, glycerol, ethanol, purified water. The form of the product is ear drops. The drug can also be used for otitis in infants.

Healing properties

The drug has a strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The effect of otypax is due to the pharmacological properties of the ingredients contained in it. Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect, and phenazone has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, phenazone gives a significant increase in the anesthetic effect of lidocaine. The combined action of phenazone and lidocaine reduces the time until the onset of anesthetic effect, while the duration and effectiveness of anesthesia increases, which causes a rapid elimination of the pain syndrome. Reduction of pain occurs five to six minutes after the administration of drops, with a reduction in hypervascularization (hyperemia) of the tympanic membrane. Sensations of pain almost completely pass after 20-30 minutes.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug when instilled in the ears has only a local effect. There is no systemic absorption of the active ingredients, therefore the active substances otipax and its metabolites can not be detected in the blood and other tissues of the body by modern methods.

Indications for use

As a local symptomatic treatment and anesthesia, the drug is used in the following cases:

  • Acute period with average otitis;
  • Edematous viral otitis media. Usually occurs after the flu;
  • Barotraumatic otitis media. Occurs after exposure to strong pressure on the eardrums.

Application Features

Before assigning drops "Otypaks", the instruction indicates the need to check the state of the tympanic membrane. For today, there are no data on contraindications to the use of otipax during pregnancy and lactation.

Otypaks for children: instruction manual

The drug can be given to infants. The use of the drug according to the instructions is completely harmless for the child, since otipax only acts locally, without getting into the total blood flow. The drug can be used within six months after opening the vial. Before using Otipax drops to treat children, you must first show the child to the doctor. This is due to the fact that with damage to the tympanic membrane is strictly prohibited to use this drug. Since the introduction of the drug can cause the child inflammation of the auditory ossicles and damage to the nerves of the ear. If there is acute pain and it is impossible to immediately show the baby to the doctor, you can make a flagellum from cotton wool, insert it into the child's ear and then drop a few drops onto the flagellum. The procedure should be repeated three to five times a day. Before using the medicine should be held in the hand, it is possible in warm water.

Otypax affects the ability to manage transport and maintain potentially dangerous mechanisms.

Interaction with other medications

The study of clinical tolerance of the drug "Otipaks" revealed - its local application does not lead to interaction with simultaneously used analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics and disinfectants.
