Leonid Brain: biography and creativity (briefly)

Mozgovoy Leonid Pavlovich - actor of theater and cinema, made his debut on a large television screen only at the age of 51 years. Laureate of many cinematographic awards in Russia.

Childhood and youth

Leonid Mozgovoy was born in Tula two months before the Great Patriotic War, April 17, 1941. His father was a military man, and all his childhood the actor's family spent wandering around in different garrisons. Subsequently they settled in a small closed town near Sverdlovsk.

He studied at school Leonid Mozgovoy diligently, but paid more attention to extra-curricular activities, or rather artistic amateur performance. He dreamed of an acting career from an early age and sought to realize his dream.

He still keeps the receiver "Tourist", who became an actor as a talisman. He was handed over to him for the victory in the contest of readers, where Leonid struck everyone, having read Turgenev's poem with such expressiveness that the skin crawled.

After graduation, Leonid insisted on his father's admission to the flight school in Kazakhstan. There he quickly organized a circle of amateur art. After another speech, the teacher, a young lieutenant, approached him. He said: "You need to love the airplane the same way you like the stage."

After this fateful phrase, the Brain Leonid, an actor in his heart and mind, wrote a statement on the deduction. And in 1959 I went to Moscow to realize my dream.

Students

In the capital, Mozgovoy twice tried to enter VGIK, but failed. Then he decided to try his luck in Leningrad. From the first time he entered the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, where he studied from 1961 to 1965. He was immensely lucky, after all, he got on course to Boris Zon, the founder of the Tyuzov movement in the country, the student of Stanislavsky himself.

This was the last course of the Zone. And it turned out quite loud: actress Natalya Tenyakova (Baba Shura in the movie "Love and Doves"), theater director Lev Dodin and others.

The Faculty of Dramatic Art gave a lot to the Brain. His memories of his studies and his mentor, he reflected in the book of 2011 "School of Boris Zona."

Work on the stage

Leonid Mozgovoy - an actor, whose biography developed almost the way he wanted. After graduation, he went to conquer the literary stage. In 1967 he became the winner of the contest among readers in Leningrad. Since then, his career in this direction has been continuously developing. Leonid Mozgovoy calls himself a museum reader, as he is often offered to recite poems by different poets in their museums.

Brain struggles to revive the art of the word. Even in his work book there is the following wording: "master of the artistic word".

Work in the theater

Leonid Mozgovoy, whose biography is inextricably linked with theatrical activities, after graduating from the institute in 1965, came to the Musical Comedy Theater, where he served for five years.

In 1975, Mozgovoy decided to speak alone. Since that time he works in the genre of one actor. He is a frequent guest in the Petersburg Concert, where his solo performances "Notes on Cuffs", "Lolita", "I'm Hamlet" and others.

In total, there are fourteen solo performances in his coin box. He is very sensitive to the surrounding reality, which is reflected in his works. The brain brains a lot of touring, but prefers to perform on small venues to have contact with every spectator, which he was deprived of while working in the museteatre. Then it was necessary even to play at the stadiums.

Working in a movie

Leonid Mozgovoy always wanted to act in films. Admired by the works of Lenfilm, he went to the samples and even participated in the crowd a couple of times. But then I decided for myself that such a flashing on the screen is not worthy of a real actor, and just began to wait for a suitable role, his role.

The wait was long. The debut of the Brain in the movie happened only in 1992. He starred in the role of Chekhov in the movie "Stone". And I got this role too by accident. Vera Novikova, the second director of the film, was an old acquaintance of the Brain, and just before the trials, they met and talked. Vera invited Leonid to get acquainted with the main director A. Sokurov. Their conversation lasted more than two hours, as a result, a debut in the movie.

After the premiere of the 51-year-old actor called the opening. But the directors did not hurry to invite him to other roles. His next film was the film "Moloch", which was directed again by Sokurov.

Mozgovoi got the role of Hitler. He prepared for a long time, re-read a ton of books, reviewed the kilometers of newsreels. The difficulty was that the role had to be played in German. Brain thoroughly learned all the cues, and the Germans who duplicated it, said that the pronunciation of the Russian actor is ideal.

Two years later, another picture of Sokurov came out - "Taurus", where Mozgovoy played Lenin. This film showed the viewer quite another leader of the proletariat. The director and actor literally bared the soul of an old dying man, who repents of his deed.

In the cinematographic coin box Brain only 24 works. This does not upset the actor, rather the opposite - he is satisfied with the quality of his films. And he knows that his audience approves of what was done and is waiting for new roles with impatience.

Awards

In 1999 and 2001 he was awarded the Golden Aries Award for Best Actor in the films Moloch and Taurus. For the performance of the role of VI Lenin received the most prestigious award "Nika" in 2001.

The title of Honored Artist was awarded in 2002.
