It is customary to call krill small (up to 6.5 cm) crustaceans. In grocery stores you can purchase their meat fresh, canned or frozen. It is used as an independent product and is added to various dishes (salads, sandwiches, soups, all kinds of snacks) as an ingredient.

It is proved that one of the most environmentally friendly products is krill. What it is, you already know. But what are the useful substances of this product? First of all, it is potassium, sodium, calcium, iron and iodine. It is worth noting that for their livelihoods these crayfish do not accumulate harmful substances, despite the fact that they feed on carrion. They are a source of protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and many vitamins.

Often, nutritionists prescribe krill meat to their patients during treatment. And this is not surprising. After all, in spite of its low calorie content, it is nutritious, they can be quickly saturated.

Krill is especially suitable for people who suffer from diabetes, tuberculosis, obesity and some other diseases.

What can I cook with krill

There are a large number of recipes, the main ingredient of which is sea krill. From this product you can prepare the first dishes (soups, all sorts of soups and even borsch), the second dishes (salads, fish-vegetable and fish mixes), snacks (tartlets, sandwiches).

Krill ... What is it? Many replace it with ordinary crab crab. Really. After all, these products are very similar to taste. Therefore, krill can be added to the dishes in which the crab is present. In addition, the latter can even be replaced by krill.

Salad from krill

The most common dish, in which the main ingredient is krill, is a festive salad. Today we will look at how you can cook it.

This salad with krill does not contain sophisticated ingredients and does not require a lot of cooking time. In addition, everyone can do this dish, even a child.

So, for its preparation you need the following products:

  • 200-250 gr of krill meat;
  • A few boiled eggs;
  • Pickled or fresh cucumbers (2-3 pcs.);
  • 1 small can of canned corn;
  • greenery;
  • lemon juice;
  • mayonnaise;
  • Salt to taste.

Conserved krill meat must be cut into small pieces. Peel the eggs and crumble with a knife. Take the cucumbers and grate them, wring them out (in case you use pickled or soaked cucumbers). Greens also need to crumble finely.

This salad should be formed in layers. At the bottom of the salad bowl lay the meat of krill, then lay eggs, corn, cucumbers and greens. Each layer must be lubricated with mayonnaise in large quantities. As a spice, use salt and pepper to taste. Also, each layer can be sprinkled with a little lemon juice.

Cheese baskets with krill meat

We have already said that krill is ideal for making all kinds of snacks. The most popular type is cheese baskets with krill meat, which are prepared as follows.

Take any hard cheese (gram 50-70), grate it on a grater and mix with 1 teaspoon of flour. After that, put 1 large spoon on the heated pan. When the cheese is a little podtata, remove the resulting pancake with a spatula and clothe the bottom of the glass.

When the cheese cools down, turn the glass over and take off the pancake. In the end, you should get a basket. So cook the baskets until the cheese is finished.

Use the chopped krill meat as the filling. Stuff the baskets and serve to the table.
