Karelia: lakes and nature. Which lake is best for rest?

Karelia is a country of magnificent lakes and dense forests. The nature is especially beautiful in summer, during the white nights, when the twilight lightly covers the earth, and the air is filled with the aroma of coniferous trees. The snow completely descends, and tourists can easily enjoy the pristine greatness of the environment and the opportunities of the recreational sector without problems.

Nature

Most of the territory of the republic is covered with forests, in which there are small streams and small waterfalls. Especially delicious, if you stumble among the thicket of trees on a forest lake. Karelia, being a taiga country, will surprise with graceful Christmas trees, which, like girls washing their feet, surround the pond. In this case, the water under the gentle breeze of the wind splashes and overflows with waves, and around, wherever you look, ringing silence and grace. Be sure to stop and relax on the lakeside shore, breathing in its coolness and special, inherent only in Karelia, the fragrance.

Coniferous forests account for about 90% of all green plantations. In addition to beauties, firs, here there are many graceful pines. There are also deciduous thickets, where birches, aspens and alder were comfortably settled. In August, Karelia will give a rich harvest of mushrooms and berries. Lakes, scattered around the perimeter of the country, are full of fish. It turns out that you just will not stay hungry: fragrant blueberries and cranberries, supplemented with fried on a fire carp or pike perch, will be a wonderful dinner. And home as a souvenir and a useful vitamin supplement you can bring a whole bowl of cranberries, which grows on local marshes.

sights

Of course, the nature of this northern faraway land is the main one. Weak forest paths, spruce forests and marble lakes ... Karelia first of all fascinates with almost virgin environment. No less beautiful are the islands, for example Kizhi, where travelers can get acquainted with the wooden architecture of Russian masters. We should pay attention to the archipelagos: Valaam, where the Savior-Transfiguration Monastery and unique Karelian settlements are located, as well as Solovetsky, who keeps the memory of the unfortunate prisoners who fell behind the barbed wire of the ruthless Soviet gulag.

Be sure to stroll around the Karelian cities. The streets of Petrozavodsk, Belomorsk, Kemi and other settlements are dotted with souvenir shops and shops, where you can buy numerous gifts for the whole family. Especially praise the local residents for alcoholic beverages made from Karelian berries, and a unique jam that you will not find anywhere else. The tourists are also popular linen capes, irreplaceable in hot summer days, and author dolls, serving as personal and family wards.

Tourism

There are many campsites and tourist centers in Karelia, but hotels are located exclusively in cities. The price of summer holidays here is rather big: the cost of a month's holiday starts from 15 thousand rubles, for a 10-day stay will have to pay from 3 to 12 thousand. For those who can not afford the appropriate embezzlement, wild tourism is offered at full disposal. In any secluded corner, you can break a tent, having previously purchased money from mosquitoes, which are numerous. In the woods there are also annoying horns, and dangerous mites - this must also be taken into consideration by savage travelers.

Despite the inconvenience caused by bothersome insects, it is in dense thickets that there is an opportunity not only to forget about the noise of the metropolis, but also to fully enjoy the gifts of nature. And also go rafting on the local rivers or fishing, which is called the lakes of Karelia.
