Iron, vitamins, compatibility and necessity

The first thing that my mother will hear is a slender baby with an "aristocratic" complexion from well-wishers - a recommendation to check hemoglobin and drink iron-containing vitamins. Indeed, a small weight in a child and pallor of the skin can be evidence of a lack of this important trace element. The need to increase the intake of iron in children can indicate digestive disorders, fatigue, frequent stomatitis and "seizures", irritability and other symptoms. In adults, they are similar. This problem can be indicated by eczema and other skin diseases. Clinically, iron deficiency is manifested by a decrease in such a laboratory indicator as hemoglobin. We will not give exact values for each category of patients, but it should be noted that the figure, slightly different from the norm in the lower side, indicates the iron deficiency only in combination with other symptoms. So, if we talk about infants, we need to know about physiological reduction of hemoglobin between 2 and 6 months, which is not the reason for panic in the absence of other symptoms. If the general blood test in combination with other patient complaints allows us to talk about iron deficiency, there are two complementary ways to fill it: pharmacy supplements to food and correction of the diet. Next, we briefly dwell on each of them.

Preparations

By the way, the very term "iron-containing vitamins" is not entirely accurate. This is about the so-called vitamin-mineral complexes, which include such a trace element as iron. The main problem with these innumerable jars offering to solve all the problems of one pill is the possible intolerance of their individual components, as well as their controversial compatibility. So if after the results of the blood test you are recommended to take iron, vitamins and trace elements it makes sense to take and separate. Among the most common iron preparations - "Sorbifer Durules", "Ferroplex", "Aktiferrin." For children, the same "Aktiferrin", "Ferrum Lek", "Maltofer" is usually recommended. When breastfeeding is often not necessary to give those or other supplements to the child, if the mother will take the necessary vitamins. Containing iron preparations in this case, the doctor can appoint a mother.

A few words about compatibility. What can be combined with iron? Vitamins that contribute to its assimilation are C and B2. It improves its absorption and folic acid. It does not mix well with manganese and calcium. Of course, there is no need to memorize these combinations "by heart", because manufacturers of iron-containing preparations take this aspect into account. If you want to take iron and vitamins at the same time, there are such complexes as "Iron Plus" for children or "Vitrum-superstress" for adults.

Food

Of course, we know where to get the iron. Legumes, meat, apples, blueberries ... But when it comes to food, again, the issue of their compatibility becomes topical. Iron-rich meat is most useful in combination with foods rich in routine and vitamin C. A classic combination - buckwheat with meat - works just fine. Vegetable products supply us non-haem iron. Vitamins of group B and already mentioned ascorbic acid contribute to its assimilation, so do not neglect bran, cereals and citrus. But dairy products during the treatment of iron deficiency anemia is better limited, because calcium iron is not the best friend. It is necessary to temporarily give up caffeine, which means not only coffee, but also black tea and cola. Change the tea to the broth of the dog rose, add the honey - and, perhaps, you will not be useful tips for treating colds. A proper diet is not only a limitation, but also a pleasure from taking care of yourself.
