Irkutsk is a city located in the Asian part of the country. It is located in Eastern Siberia, near China and Mongolia. It is located only six dozen kilometers from one of the most beautiful and unique lakes in the world - Baikal.

Irkutsk is divided into two parts by the Angara River. These zones are called the left and right banks. They are connected by means of bridges, called the Old, New and New, as well as hydroelectric power stations. Such strange names were formed for a simple reason: people did not think that after the construction of the New Bridge, others would be built, which also would have to be somehow called. That is why the transition, which was opened in 2010, had to be called the Newest. Officials attempted to correct the embarrassing situation. But only the new name for the New Bridge, which is now called Academic, has taken root.

The city is divided into four districts. These are Leninsky, Oktyabrsky, Pravoberezhny and Sverdlovsk. The area of the settlement is more than three hundred square kilometers. It has more than 800 streets, the length of which in total is more than 700 kilometers. The city of Irkutsk, the regions of which also unite the settlements, has a center right at the intersection of the two oldest main streets: Lenin and Marx. Near the main square, as well as the Duma. Around the center passes the Angara River, which forms two embankments.

Differences between the two banks

So, the city is divided into two banks. The right is a historical and administrative center. It houses the buildings of the regional and city administrations. There is also a large part of shopping and business centers, an airport and a bus station. The left bank united sleeping areas and industrial facilities. The path from one side to the other takes little time. For this reason, many people live on the same shore, and work on the other.

Kuybyshev and Kirov districts

In the central part of the right bank are these two areas. They are the most beautiful in the whole city. It is here that theaters and museums, historical buildings, as well as several clubs and cinemas are located. The streets are decorated with a large number of flower beds and green spaces, as well as interesting sculptures. There are many nicely arranged squares, some of which have fountains. At every step you can find catering or restaurants. Many of them are inexpensive.

In the Kirov and Kuibyshev districts there are a lot of shopping centers and shops. There are also buildings of almost all higher educational institutions of the city. Due to the fact that in these places there are often foreign tourists, all the signs on which the names of streets are written are fully translated into English. Also installed boards with instructions and maps, which show routes to all interesting places. Irkutsk, whose districts do not contain many attractions, still attracts travelers. And just in these two zones they happen most often.

Oktyabrsky district

This area does not belong to the central part of the city. But here is the largest in the city street - Baikal. She strongly animates this area. Immediately there are the junctions of the New Bridge, the traffic of public transport is closed. You can only go by taxi or private car. But soon it will change.

Sverdlovsk region

In this area of the city, young people prefer to settle, as housing is more affordable here. It consists of microdistricts, each of which has shops, schools and kindergartens. There are even some universities. Of the total number of microdistricts in the Oktyabrsky District, Akademgorodok stands out, which appeared earlier than the rest. But till now it is considered one of the most calm and prosperous. Akademgorodok is very cozy and picturesque due to the large number of public gardens and groves.

Leninsky district

It includes two districts: Irkutsk-2, as well as Novolenino. They are connected to the villages, which are part of this zone at different times. Irkutsk, whose districts are quite calm, still has not very good places. Many believe that there are a lot of so-called Gopnik in Leninsky. Therefore, once again to appear here is not recommended. However, recently young families are willingly settled here. Leninsky district of the city center is at a decent distance, but public transport is good.

This place plays the role of a viewing platform, since it offers a very beautiful panoramic view of the city of Irkutsk. Areas from height are visible as on a palm. Some neighborhoods of the city are similar to each other. They are close to the center. Constructed with high speed to quickly solve the problem of a shortage of housing for citizens. These are the most common sleeping quarters in which all houses are multi-family and are built in the same type. Housing in them is less than the city as a whole. Nearby there are forests. This is convenient, since you do not need to go anywhere, in order to spend time in nature.

Private sector

The main feature of the city is its private sector. If in most modern settlements own houses are only on the outskirts, then here they are everywhere. Even in the very center.
