The instrument panel, mounted on VAZ cars of the ninth family, is made of high-tech energy-absorbing plastic 3 mm thick. It is worth noting that at the moment distinguish several VAZ "torpedoes". Modify the backlight

Owners of newer VAZs are lucky - they have light located inside the panel. The old "nines" were illuminated from the outside, which created a certain effect of asceticism. Yes, and it looked not very sportive. Change its location from external to internal is quite real. To do this, you need a light-transmitting overlay, wires and tape.

How is the backlighting of the VAZ-2109 instrument panel refined? To begin with, we need to remove the panel from the car, having previously de-energized the vehicle's on-board network and unscrewing the fastening parts of the lining. We'll talk about this in more detail in the section "How to remove the VAZ-2109 instrument panel low and high". In order for light from the diodes to get on the patch from the inside, it is necessary to make several cuts on its surface. This can be done with a soldering iron or a hot knife.

Working with LED parts

After making holes, you can go to the very highlight. It will be located here as on foreign cars, that is, from the inside. In specialized services such a service costs several thousand rubles, so for the sake of economy we will do it ourselves.

As we noted earlier, our backlight will be manufactured on the basis of a conventional LED strip. We cut it into several uniform pieces. As a result, we should have several tracks with 3 diodes on each. For uniform illumination, we make a reflector from the foil. For a tachometer and a speedometer, we need 3 pieces of tape. The remaining elements (the scale of the fuel level, coolant temperature and other) are enough for one piece.

The regular suspension is not rushed to throw out, as it will illuminate the arrows of the instrument scales. But it can also be modernized. For this, it is necessary to glue the LED strip to the place of the lamps. Many motorists note its very bright glow, so on the diodes we glue an additional tint film. If there is not one, you can use the black marker - the result will be the same. In this case, the standard filter remains in place, and the hue of the backlight will be soft and even with a white-blue color.

What to do next?

Next, the ready lighting should be connected to the contact of the plate of the lamp of the standard illumination. Do not forget about the polarity - we determine it in advance. If desired, you can buy a special driver for power LEDs. With it, you stabilize the supply voltage a little.

About arrows

At this stage, our control panel of the VAZ-2109 instrument panel has been practically finalized. It remains only to check the efficiency of the LEDs and apply a constant voltage of 12 V. As for the arrows, they need to be recalibrated, and it is better to replace them with special ones that are highlighted by a separate lamp located next to the axis. As an alternative, the standard parts are installed from the "dozens" shield, which is also illuminated from the inside.

According to the instructions, in order to completely disassemble the panel, we need to do a lot of manipulation. In this case, the work is done in a certain order. First, remove the 3 control knobs for the heater, then the fan switch assembly and the center console mounting screws. Further from the switch of the rear PTF, the connector with wires, one cord of the "emergency" switch and two from the rear window heating are disconnected. After removing the shoe from the switch of the external lighting and the lights of the cigarette lighter.

Then unscrew 4 fixing screws of the control panel of the heater and 2 bolts from the visor of the instrument panel. Then spring clips are compressed and the instrument cluster housing is removed from the panel. The speedometer cable is also being removed. Further, the white shoe is removed from the instrument cluster and the hose of the econometra nipple. From the speedometer disconnects the reset cable mileage. After that, a red shoe with wires is removed.

At the next stage, the nut of the hydraulic headlamp fixing, the steering wheel switches and the steering wheel are disassembled. After installing the ignition key in the "1" position, the anti-theft device is removed, and then the socket with the wires from the ignition switch is removed.

How do I remove the VAZ-2109 instrument panel? After this, the pipe of the steering column is removed together with the ignition. To pull the handle off the pull rod, it is necessary to pull on the "suction". Further, the bolts for securing the dampers and the elements holding the dial with the dials on the right and left sides are removed. Everything, at this stage the instrument panel VAZ-2109 (low) was successfully extracted! The installation of all the elements is made in the same way as the removal, in the reverse order.

How to remove the VAZ-2109 instrument panel high?

It would seem that two identical cars - VAZ 1994 and 1996 release. However, the design of their front panel is completely different, so the algorithm of dismantling will be appropriate.

So, where does the work begin?

The dismantling of the high instrument panel begins with the removal of the decorative cover of the steering wheel. Then it is necessary to unscrew the nut of the fastening of the rudder so that the front part of it is flush with the end of the column shaft. But do not remove the nut immediately. The rudder on the "nine" is very tightly seated on the splines, and with sudden movements, it jumped off the fastenings, can cause more injury.

With sharp blows of the hand, the piece is knocked off the fasteners and finally removed. Then loosen the 6 bolts of the bottom casing of the column. The last part, together with the lining of the ignition switch, is pulled out completely. Similarly, we do the upper casing. After that, the base is removed from the shaft and two wiring pins are disconnected from the sound signal. Then, on the chain, the cords are removed from the windshield wiper and washer, as well as the turn and light lever.

After pulling out the "suction", the handle is pulled out from the pull rod and the dashboard consoles are removed. Then the cartridge of the cigarette lighter, an ashtray, and also the knobs of the fan switch and heater control are removed (here you can try to poke them with a minus screwdriver). After that, the hydrocorrector, light switches and other elements are removed in a similar way.

After it comes to the instrument panel, and the speedometer cable is removed, remove the red and white pads from the instrument cluster and the onboard control system. Then disconnect the ignition switch together with the "mass", the control valve for opening the dampers and the thrust guides. The screws for securing the shield are located on both sides of the lining. After they are removed, the instrument panel (VAZ-2109 "Samara") will be in an unobstructed position.
