In Kyrgyzstan there is an earthquake. Forecasts of seismologists

Kyrgyzstan is located in a seismically dangerous zone. Residents of the country are not accustomed to such a natural disaster as earthquakes. They know about it not by hearsay. In Kyrgyzstan, an earthquake is a frequent unwelcome guest. The Republic is feverish several times a year.

From the history

In Kyrgyzstan, an earthquake is a frequent phenomenon, mentioned even in the folk epic. Only for a year there are up to 3,500 different degrees of intensity. Over the past ten years, earthquakes in the Kochkor region of Naryn oblast (2006), the village of Kan Kadamjay rayon of Batken oblast (2011), Tupsk district of Issyk-Kul oblast (2013), the settlement of Kaji-Sai Ton The Issyk-Kul region (2014). All these earthquakes did not result in human casualties, but they caused a huge loss to the inhabitants of the republic.

Earthquake in Kyrgyzstan in November 2014

At the end of 2014, the inhabitants of the republic had to again feel the devastating consequences of the disaster. The first blow occurred around midnight on local time on November 17. In the area where the epicenter of the earthquake was located in Kyrgyzstan, 45 kilometers east of Osh, the force of the shocks was fixed to 7 points. The nearest cities did not bypass the disaster - seismologists registered up to 4 - in Naryn, and 3,5 - in the capital, 5 points were felt in Karakol. In the early morning of November 18, there were repeated shocks.

Director of the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic K. Abdrakhmatov explains this behavior of the earth by the phenomenon of aftershock - a series of less intense earthquakes that occur after the main impact. A similar phenomenon is observed only with powerful earthquakes, the number of tremors is numerous.

In the afternoon the situation repeated again. The whole scale of the elements was felt especially strongly by residents of high-rise buildings. Fortunately, this earthquake did not take with itself human lives. But the infrastructure of cities and villages suffered significant damage. Five groups of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and the Civil Protection Commission worked on the scene. Many families (152) were left without a roof over their heads. More than 400 homes by the Ministry of Emergency Situations are recognized as emergency.

Forecasts of seismologists

The territory of the republic is located at the junction of the Ferghana Depression and the Alay Uplift. Unseen by the human eye, but the continuous movement of earth plates and causes earthquakes. Seismologists have established in the process of ten-year observations of the laws of nature that after more or less intense earthquakes there comes a period of calm, the active phase of strong tremors comes decades later. So says the law of Gutenberg-Richter.

In Kyrgyzstan, the earthquake is strong and destructive - a rare phenomenon, and the frequency of the impact of the elements depends on the intensity of the previous ones. At the same time, strong earthquakes (8.3 magnitude on the Richter scale) occurred on the territory of the republic . It is possible that if they were here before, they can repeat again. So everything turns out in scientific works and research results.

In fact, in Kyrgyzstan, an earthquake is a frequent occurrence and quite noticeable. In the long term, the republic can expect several earthquakes. The earth is awake, and earthquakes that occurred recently in Pakistan and Afghanistan speak for it. More than 1,5 thousand people became victims of them.

It is impossible to predict exactly the date of the earthquake by seismologists of any country in the world.

It seems that there are no cardinal changes in the habits of nature. Which confirms the next rampant element.

The last earthquake in Kyrgyzstan

As scientists predicted, the last time the earth's pulse in Kyrgyzstan was heard on New Year's Eve in 2016. According to the Institute of Seismology, the earthquake occurred in the early morning near the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. The strength in the epicenter reached 5 points, the depth to 10 kilometers. It was without human sacrifice and destruction. Only in the last month of last year the seismological service of Kyrgyzstan registered 14 earthquakes.

Earthquake in Kyrgyzstan: victims

The Republic is constantly shaking. Fortunately, most of the tremors pass without human casualties, leaving behind only the destroyed buildings. But the strongest earthquake in Kyrgyzstan has led to tragic consequences, placing the country in the upper lines of the news lines of all the world's media.

The most destructive in the last decade in the republic was an earthquake in the village of Nura in the Alay region of the Osh region. It happened in October 2008. The strength of the tremors reached 8 points. This time in Kyrgyzstan, the earthquake caused huge human casualties. The element carried with it 75 human lives. On October 5, the whole world learned about this small village in the south of the country. 144 buildings were destroyed. In hospitals with injuries, 93 children and 49 adults were injured. Subterranean tremors were felt by neighboring Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and China.

What should I do?

As a basic security measure in many countries of the world operates a unified information system. As soon as the instruments detect seismic activity, the signal is sent to important state facilities, production, and SMS is sent to citizens. Time, while the wave of the tremor moves from the epicenter to the populated area, can become decisive for the preservation of hundreds of human lives.

Since the beginning of the earthquake, a person has literally 15-20 seconds in order to have time to respond, leave the premises or take the safest position. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations warn that it is necessary to leave the premises only in the event that there is a certainty that a person will not be littered with debris near high-rise buildings. Therefore, being in a multi-storey house, it is better to take a position, pressing against the bearing wall and as far as possible from the windows. In Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducts educational and explanatory work with the population in order that every citizen of the republic knows the elementary rules of behavior during an earthquake.
