Over time, the male falls off and dies. This strange feature is explained by the poor chances that the female will be able to find a partner in depth, and therefore it is better for her to have a permanent, "pocket" chevalier.

Spawning passes in the water column, but gradually the eggs rise to the surface, where larvae appear from them. Strongly eating, they are taken to grow rapidly, and with time they descend, settling in the beloved depths.
