The sea line is a resident of gloomy depths

Looking at a fish called "Deep Sea Anglerfish", you do not even have to wonder why it is so called. This scarecrow is probably the most ugly creature in the ocean. He has an unreasonably large head, which is almost half the size of the entire body, armed with a huge mouth with dagger-like teeth.

He has a scaly body and a body so flexible that he can swallow a prey twice as large as his size. The sea features luring gullible fish with the luminous end of an elongated dorsal fin, which is topped by a blister with fluorescers of bacteria-parasites flickering in its liquid. True, there are species in which the teeth themselves act as bait, as they too have the ability to radiate a glow, attracting in the total darkness of curious fishes.

In this article you will be able to consider what the sea features are. Photos of this creature are placed in the text.

It is known about the spirit of hundreds of species of this fish, most of them live in depths up to 600 m of Antarctic and Atlantic oceans. Here they are at the bottom, almost merging with it due to camouflage with the help of a special "fringe", consisting of leathery lobes.

Mode of hunting for the angler

The fish is a fish, it's a swallow, lies motionless, waiting a long time for the victim, and can even hold his breath. His jaws are closed, but as soon as the fish or mollusks attracted by his "fishing rod", the predator's mouth opens and claps in a flash. It is even difficult to follow this process.

The insatiable monster in a huge amount absorbs and fish, and rays, and small sharks, not to mention crabs and blackheads. This predator hunts both on the bottom and in the water column. There are even cases when a deep-sea fish rose to the surface and captured waterfowl sitting there . True, such antics ended tragically for gluttons - he just died, not being able to swallow too large for themselves prey.

For that the males bite the female

An absolutely amazing feature of this fish is its way of reproduction. Males, growing up, stop eating because they can no longer digest food. By the way, the adult specimen reaches only a few centimeters, and until recently it was considered an independent species. In order not to perish, males are forced to "bite", literally, into the body of a large, almost two-meter-old female, which they find thanks to their unique sense of smell.

Clinging this way, they grow their mouths to the body of the female and turn into a parasite that sprays the milk on the female's caviar, thus ensuring the continuation of the genus of such an amazing creature. Over time, the male falls off and dies. This strange feature is explained by the poor chances that the female will be able to find a partner in depth, and therefore it is better for her to have a permanent, "pocket" chevalier.

Spawning passes in the water column, but gradually the eggs rise to the surface, where larvae appear from them. Strongly eating, they are taken to grow rapidly, and with time they descend, settling in the beloved depths.

The sea features are very much appreciated in Japanese cuisine. His white, boneless, rather dense meat, resilient and juicy, will do honor to the most exquisite table. It is believed that even a novice this dish is difficult to spoil.
