How was the Tuim failure formed?

Man's economic activity often leads to the formation of the most bizarre things, some of which can compete with the majestic monuments of nature. These include the Tuim failure.

It is located in the Shirinsky district of Khakassia, and the name of this amazing education was given to the village of Tuim, which is nearby.

Simply put, the Tuim Failure is the collapse of the rock that was formed at the site of the mine, which was closed as far back as in 1974. Here, tungsten was mined, and later copper with molybdenum.

The mining took place by the mine method. The miners did not take into account the specifics of local breeds, which proved to be highly susceptible to technogenic depressions.

Until now, near the failure, you can see the ruins of the enrichment plant, on which trolls were brought from the face by trolleys. It was decided to close the mine after several miners died as a result of the mass collapse.

In addition, similar cases have occurred before, so that the management of the enterprise decided not to take risks.

Initially, the Tuim Failure was a small hollow, the diameter of which did not exceed six meters. The water gradually filtered into the hole, which was dyed in a bright blue color because of the high concentration of copper compounds. Today, the diameter of the funnel is more than 200 meters, with completely sheer banks.

In some places you can see the remains of drifts and rails for trolleys. Some tourists say that the picture opening from the height reminds a cut hive or an anthill.

The wall rock is highly prone to weathering, and therefore often collapses. To the surface of the lake is about 150 meters. The full depth of the Tuim Failure is unknown to this day, because there were no measurements of the lake bottom.

If the height of the dip in meters does not sound very impressive, then it should be recalled that skyscrapers on 50 floors have the same height. The lake bottom has not been fully explored because of the high danger of such an event.

Strangely enough, but domestic travel lovers for a long time absolutely nothing knew about this amazing place. Only after reporting the legendary Yuri Sienkiewicz in 1995, a flood of astonished tourists poured in here, who wanted to see with their own eyes the Tuimian failure.

Caterers and even extreme divers, who at their own peril and risk carry out risky dives, have become frequent in these places. We strongly advise you not to dive, but you can walk along the fortified drifts and tickle your nerves.

On the perimeter of the huge crater, there is a fence, pass for which is very not advised, since the collapses occur regularly. Here you can meet fans of base jumping and bungee jumping from around the world.

Given that this landmark is in Russia, it is best to study it independently, without resorting to the help of travel companies. Leave the best of the city of Abakan, taking advantage of the highway M-54. You need to go until you see a signpost to the village of Znamenka (80 km), after which you need to turn left and go to Borets village.

From it - to the village of Shira. The village of Tuim is 18 km from Shira. Local people will willingly show you the Tuim failure. Khakassia, the photo of which you leave in your photo albums, improves the tourist service every year, so that you will have a wonderful rest.
