Black orchid - a beautiful and mysterious flower

Black orchid - a hybrid, created by scientists in California. Until now, this is the only species of this plant that has such a color.

A black orchid, a photo of which can be found in vast quantities on the Internet, is considered a symbol of beauty and grace.

Having a pleasant vanilla scent and beautiful appearance, she always attracts attention. But many growers are concerned about how to care for the plant. Let's try to figure this out.

Necessary conditions for growing

A black orchid is a relatively unpretentious flower, but at the same time it requires special care.

Initially, it is worth paying attention to the lighting. This plant prefers penumbra, and some growers advise placing it in full shade. The sun's rays adversely affect both the leaves and the flower stem.

A black orchid is afraid of excessive moisture, so water it very rarely, about 2 times a month. Sometimes the flower with its appearance (leaves a little wrinkled) itself reminds you of the need for moisturizing. However, before watering it is still worth checking the soil and making sure that it is really dry. From excessive moisture, the plant dies very quickly, as roots and leaves begin to rot. Also, during watering, you should be careful not to soak the flowers.

This procedure should be carried out as follows: in a bucket of water at room temperature, place the plant for 15-20 minutes. Thus, the black orchid itself will take the necessary amount of moisture. Next, a flowerpot is pulled out and waiting until excess water drains. After that, the plant is put in its original place.

A black orchid loves fresh air, but is very afraid of drafts. The temperature during the day should be from +18 to +25 degrees, and at night from +12 to +18 degrees Celsius. Observance of this regime favorably influences flowering, which usually begins in winter. With proper care, the orchid will not be happy for one month with its owner.

Plant transplant and fertilizing

In flower shops, orchids are usually sold in transparent pots. This allows you to clearly see the roots, therefore, buy a healthy plant. They have white (silver) or green color. There should be no signs of putrefaction. Some roots can hang from the pot, this is the norm.

A healthy black orchid has dense leaves, without significant damage and stains. Minor scratches of the flower will not do any harm.

After the flowering, the plant should be transplanted. Usual land is not suitable for this, it will be necessary to purchase a special soil consisting of charcoal, as well as pine bark and moss.

Like any other orchid, this kind of transplant is difficult to carry, so the next time the procedure should be repeated only after two years. In addition, the plant itself will indicate the need for a new pot of a larger size. If it is cramped, the roots go to the surface of the ground and begin to hang, and the plant itself becomes unstable.

After 10-14 days after transplantation, the black orchid can be watered with a complex fertilizer, which is bred according to the attached instructions. During the flowering period, it is used once every 2 weeks, and the rest of the time is enough once a month. Also, a special fertilizer can be sprayed with leaves.

If you follow the recommendations presented in this article, the flower will decorate the house for more than one year.
