How to sew a skirt with tiers

Summer, among other undeniable joys, is also pleasant in that it allows you to manage a minimum of clothes, and all the items of the summer wardrobe can be sewn by yourself for one or two evenings, and, in quality, they will hardly be inferior to those purchased, and in their appearance say That they were sewn at home in just a few hours, is quite difficult. The simplest products in order to start sewing at home are skirts: they consist of few details, for sewing basic models you need to make quite a few stitches. In order to sew a skirt, it is not necessary to have a pattern at all - a simple pattern of skirt patterns is available, on the basis of which it will be possible to make simple calculations and build your own pattern. No wonder the first thing we were taught in sewing lessons is how to sew a skirt.

Over the past few seasons, longline skirts, most often up to the floor, have become fashionable. They both wear separately, and are part of the trendy summer dresses. Their flying silhouette makes the figure visually slimmer and taller and allows you to feel light and cool in any heat, allowing the body to breathe and blowing coolness at every step. Also, a longline skirt, a pattern for sewing which is not required, is very simple to manufacture, so it does not necessarily have to purchase it for significant funds - it can be simply and quickly sewed at home.

Before you sew a skirt, you need to decide on the fabric. Summer thin cotton materials, from a semi-transparent cambric to a thin denim fabric, are best suited , but you can take any other. This skirt does not need to choose any special materials - the fabric does not even need to be natural, since it is a free product, and the skirt will not attach to the body, however, breathable fabrics for summer are still always preferable. Naturally, for sewing a skirt it is very important that the fabric is either nipped or, on the contrary, stitched, so that the finished product in the sock looked neat. Drawing can both be absent, and be, and absolutely any, from classical prints to ethnic motives. It is very interesting and relevant to look tiered skirts with a color transition, when the shades of each tier consistently change from lighter to darker, or vice versa, and when contrasting colors alternate. You can also alternate different textures of the fabric, for example, lace and opaque material.

The amount of fabric will depend on which skirt silhouette you choose, so before making a skirt, you need to make calculations. Recently, the most relevant models are longline skirts with a silhouette "half sun", on a coquette or without. To make a coquette, you can take 15-20 centimeters from any pattern of a straight skirt of your size with a minimum of details. Further it will be easier: the tiers of this skirt are rectangles of a given length and width. The difference in their length depends on how many tiers will be in the skirt. The basis of the calculation is the principle that every 25 centimeters the width of the skirt should increase by about one and a half times. So, for a skirt with a coquette of 15 centimeters, three tiers and a length "on the floor", each subsequent tier will be about 1.5 times wider than the previous one, and the length of the first one is one and a half times larger than the transverse dimension of the bottom of the coquette.

Tiers and coquette can be sewn in several ways depending on the type of fabric selected. For example, if you took a dense fabric, the seams are made standard, and for light flying materials you can choose the overlapping method - the trimmed edges of the thin fabric will become an additional element of the decor. Naturally, in this case, before sewing a skirt, the edges of each tier need to be processed. You can interleave strips of fabric with lace ribbons - you will get a very beautiful skirt in ethnic style.
