How to make a stand for a hammock? Description of one of the simplest variants

With the arrival of warm spring days, summer residents try to spend maximum time on their sites. But after exhausting physical work, it would not hurt to rest. Unfortunately, not all have in addition to the vegetable garden and a fully furnished house. Therefore, very many people would like to use a hammock as a place for recreation (photo 1). But then you have to decide how and where to hang it, choosing the right place. But there is another solution to this problem - you can make a stand for a hammock with your own hands and install it where it is most convenient.

Briefly from history

It turns out that the historical homeland of the hammock is America, and the immediate inventors of the unusual bed - its indigenous inhabitants - the Indians. The reason for hanging places for rest and sleep was not at all the desire to luxuriate under the light breath of a fresh breeze, but the desire to protect oneself from snake bites and creeping insects along the ground. In addition, the climate quite allowed not to think about significant fluctuations in temperatures within a day. Special merit belongs also to the mariners who brought this invention to Europe. But in those days only trees and other suitable vertical places were used as a support and fastening. More recently, people realized that it's very convenient to have a stand for a hammock. Then the "bed" can be used both outdoors and indoors. Let's consider what kinds of stands are and what is the principle of their manufacture. And on the example of one of the models we will analyze the step-by-step order of work.

How to choose a stand for a hammock? Description of the most common species

All structures are classified primarily by the external configuration:

- hanging;

- having a monolithic frame;

- reinforced on the assembly rack.

The latter are most convenient to use, since they occupy minimum space and, if necessary, can be quickly assembled and installed. As materials for manufacturing, most supports are made of metal or wooden blocks. The designs vary in form. Among the undivided skeletons, the most stable are those arched in the form of an arc (photo 2). Such models besides practicality also have a very attractive appearance. A somewhat different design for the stand for "sessile" hammocks.

It is quite simple to make a design for fixing the mesh box at home. Consider in general terms what a simple hammock stand should look like. Dimensions given in this example are standard and can be changed depending on the structural features of the "lying" zone - length, depth, width of the blade. All indications in the table are given in centimeters.

Features of the technology of connecting some parts

When making a hammock stand with your own hands, it is worth paying special attention to the reliability of the connection of all parts. In case of poor work, there is a danger at any time, especially when rocking, to disrupt the integrity of the structure, which may result in injury from the fall of a person who is in the net. Therefore, pay attention (in the example of photo 4), that with the extension of the diagonal guides and, correspondingly, the increase of the entire structure, the load on the fasteners considerably increases. For greater reliability, use the oblique laths, which are additionally attached from above, connecting the base of the stand and the side piece. Alternatively, you can make two or three instead of one screw through hole, distributing them in several places of the lower support.

Choosing accessories for babies

Buying a pedestal for a hammock or making it with your own hands, you need to consider the presence of several mandatory properties of the product:

- Stability of the structure. The most reliable are double-bottomed stands. So, for example, the above-described product can be made somewhat different - to supplement the diagonal guides with one more detail (which will make the "side panels" in the form of a triangle), and add the horizontal supporting part to the parallel one.

- Reliability of assembly. It is most expedient to stop your choice on integral designs, that is, going only once after the purchase, rather than permanently.

- Practicality of the product. Many models, especially for the smallest ones, can additionally have a number of devices - a protective mosquito net, a sunshield, a sway limiter, etc. Of course, such stands will have a higher cost. Therefore, when acquiring the product, specify the general functionality.

As you can see, such a simple product as a hammock can become not only a useful item, but also a fairly modern design piece that can decorate any interior.
