How to install a straight-line motorcycle on your own?

Smasterit straight-through silencer with your own hands - a simple and interesting occupation. Since the entire exhaust system of the motorcycle is in sight, making it a decoration of the bike will not be difficult.

Material of silencers

Before deciding to create your masterpiece of direct flow on a motorcycle, you can familiarize yourself with the available ready-made silencers. On the market are models from various materials:

  1. Titanium - one of the best. Light, beautiful and almost not heated.
  2. Aluminum - perhaps, the lightest, but when working very hot.
  3. Carbon - beautiful, light and not heated, but quite fragile.
  4. Steel - reliable and strong, but very heavy and hot.

Of course, and the price of them is different. Find the right one, given the size of the motorcycle, and you can pick up the silencer that is recommended by the manufacturer. The installation of a ready-made straight-through on a motorcycle will take much less time. But if you still want to do it yourself, then you should be patient.

Manufacturing of a straight-through silencer

In order not to disrupt the engine and prevent the ignition of the motorcycle, before we start making a direct flow on the motorcycle with our own hands, we will take measurements from the bike and draw up a drawing:

  1. Armed with a tape measure and measure the distance from the connection of the muffler and the engine to the footrest. Then from the stand to the end of the motorcycle. This takes into account the required length of the pipe, taking into account its bending. If the silencers are on both sides, then the other side is measured by the same principle.
  2. Be sure to draw schemes of the future design for each side separately, note the number of connections and the radius of the bend (if it will be).
  3. We take a pipe 50-60 cm longer than necessary (take into account the bend and possible errors). Typically, a stainless steel pipe with a diameter of 10 mm is used.
  4. With the help of the pipe bender, we attach the necessary form of direct flow to the motorcycle. We try on a bike. It must fully comply with the measurements.
  5. For "stuffing" you can take a thin metal sheet and drill in it a lot of holes with a diameter of at least 5 mm, then roll it into a tube. It is more convenient to use a metal mesh.
  6. A grid (or sheet with holes) is placed inside a steel pipe.
  7. Between the walls of the inner tube and the outer we clog the glass wool. You can first wrap the inner tube glasswool, and then put it in the outer.
  8. We connect this whole construction with threaded hooks. Unlike the fixation by rivets, there is no visible fixing from the outside.
  9. We fasten it with fireproof sealant.

The winding on the bike is ready. Now you can install it.

Care and Care

The main problem of direct flow of silencers on a motorcycle is a deposit which collects inside and settles on the walls. The more it accumulates, the more it interferes with the exhaust of exhaust gases, and accordingly the engine is harder to work.

The second problem is the burning of the material (for example glass wool) inside the muffler. This becomes noticeable when the timbre of exhaust sound changes.

To these problems do not interfere with enjoying riding on your favorite bike, you need to periodically look into the muffler and clean it, change the filler.

How to make the silencer quieter

As a rule, the owner of the motorcycle will do everything to be heard. Soviets, how to make the roar of the engine memorably loud, a great many. But what if you want to get rid of the "wild roar" on the contrary? Here are some tips:

  1. Install another muffler provided by the manufacturer.
  2. Replace the silencer with soundproofing material.
  3. Instead of the factory one, put the two-chamber full-size silencer.
  4. If a loud sound appears due to the wear of the inner tube, it should be replaced.
  5. Mount the resonator. In the resonator chamber, the sound is extinguished before it enters the muffler bank.
  6. Use additional resonating tips.
  7. The acoustic film can help. It is used both outside and inside the muffler, as well as around the pipes. It reduces vibration and the level of decibels.
  8. Install the catalytic converter. In general, it is designed to reduce the proportion of harmful substances in the exhaust gases, but also copes well with noise insulation, and with vibration.
