How it all began

There is an opinion that the homeland of this unusual cocktail, like whiskey with milk, is the American continent. It was here that in due time numerous emigrants from Europe started to explore new lands. Local culture seemed to them wild and unfamiliar, so the new masters of life decided to make a small part of their homeland into it. As you know, Europeans drink most of the drinks (tea, coffee) with the addition of milk. This habit has evolved over the centuries. To feel at least a little at home, they began to drink whiskey and milk. Cooking a cocktail is not difficult. It will take only milk, sugar, whiskey and ice.

Make the drink in the following sequence:

  1. Pour 100 grams of sugar with boiling water in a ratio of 1: 1 and mix well. You get a normal syrup.
  2. A special device (shaker) to throw a few ice cubes. There also pour 10 grams of cooked syrup, 50 grams of milk and 40 grams of whiskey.
  3. To prepare the drink, the mixture should be shaken for a few minutes, then poured into a glass and served to the table.

Such a whiskey with milk is very easy to drink. People appreciated the unusual combination, and soon, following the example of Americans, such a cocktail was mixed with pleasure in other countries.

It turns out that together these two products - just an ideal addition to a healthy diet. However, experts still question the special effect of such an unusual combination.

Whiskey is good because it is perfectly combined with a huge number of other products. In many national cuisines it is used as a flavor or aromatic additive. So, for example, the Irish always used whiskey exclusively in pure form. But, strangely enough, they invented the original way to make coffee with whiskey and milk. It happened at the international airport "Shannon" near the Irish town of Ennis. In anticipation of a flight, one of the passengers, in order to warm up in cold weather, decided to mix whiskey with hot coffee and cream. So the world learned about the new cocktail, which later was called "Irish coffee" (or "coffee in Irish"). According to the standard recipe, you need to take 45 milliliters of whiskey (necessarily Irish varieties), 90 milliliters of black coffee (hot), a teaspoon of sugar and 30 milliliters of cream.

Such a drink can be made in three ways. Easiest:

  1. Pour hot coffee into the glass.
  2. Add sugar and completely dissolve it.
  3. Pour the whiskey.
  4. Top with whipped cream.

The option is not complex, but the taste of this cocktail is very interesting.

Cocktail in English

For the first time people learned about a milkshake at the end of the 19th century. It is said that in those years the British newspapers reported the creation of a new drink called "Egg-feet", in which whiskey and milk were successfully combined. His recipe was very simple. An unusual cocktail immediately fell in love with Europeans. However, later it was renamed to "Milk Shake", but the set of components and the original method of cooking remained the same.

According to an old recipe, to create such a mixture you need to take half a liter of whiskey, a liter of milk, 12 raw eggs and a little sugar powder.

Prepare such a drink in a strictly defined sequence:

  1. Smash eggs and place in separate containers of protein and yolks.
  2. Yolks beat well with sugar powder, and then add whiskey and mix thoroughly.
  3. Proteins, too, whisk separately to the state of stable foam.
  4. Combine the products together and gently mix.

Initially the cocktail was served to the table at receptions and festive parties. He was poured into a wide bowl and spooned in glasses. Now drinks are prepared portioned and served ready for use.
