How does bronchitis occur?

Few people manage to raise a child without hearing a diagnosis of bronchitis from doctors. But thus and very few people know, what is this illness or disease, whence she undertakes and as it or she needs to be treated. We will talk about this in our article.

How Acute Bronchitis Occurs in Children: Symptoms

Bronchitis is an inflammatory process in the bronchial mucosa, which is caused by viruses that have fallen into them (for example, the influenza virus or adenoviruses).

There are three manifestations of the pathological process that touched this respiratory organ.

  1. The edema of the mucous membrane, which lines the bronchial tubes from the inside, appeared as a result of inflammation.
  2. Excessive mucus production.
  3. Bronchospasm. It provokes the appearance of mucus, from which the bronchi are thus trying to get rid by pushing it out.

All this leads to a narrowing of the diameter of the tubes through which air passes, and, accordingly, to the difficulty of the breathing process and a strong cough, in combination with other symptoms of the disease: lethargy and fever.

Bronchitis: symptoms in a child with a mixed type of disease

As already mentioned above, bronchitis is mainly caused by viruses. But there are bacterial and allergic types of the disease.

Bronchitis of the first type is caused by staphylococci, streptococci and pneumococci. The course of the disease is extremely severe, with a high fever, shortness of breath, and hoarse breathing. Often the disease can begin as a viral infection, which over time opens the gate to bacteria, creating conditions for their reproduction. Then it is a mixed type of disease (viral-bacterial).

In the event that the house is smoked, or the child is confronted with something that causes it allergies, allergic bronchitis may occur . Symptoms in children in this case are the same as for a viral infection.

How to help a child with bronchitis

By the way, whether the inflammation of the throat or the runny nose becomes complicated by bronchitis, depends only on which virus they are caused. If it easily multiplies in the bronchi, then this disease can begin, and if not, everything will cost only a runny nose.

With the diagnosis of bronchitis, the symptoms in the child will not be very pronounced, and the baby will recover sooner if you maintain adequate humidity in the room. This will not allow the mucus to wither, causing a persistent dry cough. Obligatory drinking is also mandatory for the sick person (this can be compote, and fruit juice, tea, and water). With a temperature below 38 ° C, do not fight. It prevents the virus from multiplying.

Bronchitis: symptoms in the child. How to help?

In order to make it easier for the baby to get rid of the slime that has accumulated in the bronchi, there are several ways. But keep in mind that at high temperatures, the massage, which will be described below, is not done!

  • Place the child so that the butt is above your head, and tap with your fingertips, starting from the waist, along the spine. Then sharply plant the baby and ask him to clear his throat.
  • Let the child breathe deeply. Then ask him to cough and at this moment squeeze the thorax - this will help to get away phlegm.

When diagnosed with acute bronchitis, the symptoms of a child with a favorable course of the disease look like this: a dry, tearful cough at the beginning of the disease and a moist, clear-sputum discharge at the end of the first week. Be healthy!
