Guest Marriage: For and Against

Guest marriage is a form of relationship between two people that allows one to maintain relative freedom on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to have a permanent partner in the status of a husband (wife).

Guest marriage is not an invention of modernity. In prerevolutionary Russia, it was almost ubiquitous when the head of the family lived in the city, where his office was, and his wife and children - in a village in the village. There were spouses once a week or less.

Today this type of marriage is common among people of creative professions, enough adults and independent. Family psychologists believe that guest marriage has the same right to exist, as well as traditional marriage. The main thing is that this form of relations suits both sides.

Guest marriage gives certain advantages, to which one can attribute the opportunity to devote more time to one's own interests (work, career, creativity, friends, hobbies). Another advantage is the lack of daily household chores, responsibilities and the routine that often becomes a serious test for the spouses. Freshness of relations is another advantage that gives a guest marriage.
However, psychologists note that this form of relations is more suitable for families where children have already grown up and there is no need for a common family nest. Or when two adults come together, whose children have long since become independent.
But if small children grow up in the family who are used to seeing mom and dad every day and feel their family as a whole, then the transition to a guest marriage can negatively affect their psychological state.
The marriage is not suitable for a guest, and those who need the constant presence of their partner are ready to dissolve in it, devoting all their lives to it.
People with a developed sense of property, as well as those who are jealous, guest marriage is also not suitable. After all, it gives a certain freedom to each of the partners, so it requires them a lot of trust in each other.

In a word, if people are better off in guest marriage than in ordinary marriage, then this form of relationship meets their beliefs and characteristics of character. Therefore, it is quite possible that this kind of marriage will be more happy for them than a traditional marriage.
