Grow pineapple at home - feel yourself in the tropics

Masterful combination of useful with pleasant is to grow up something at home in your own home, so that they talk about you. Well, growing plants at home is a common thing, you will not be surprised at this. Although in this you can find your zest. Even if it weighs up to 15 kg.

Pineapple is a tropical fruit, rather finicky, in our veins it is used only as a product in a store, but not as a garden crop. And it does not shine to him to survive in the garden. Therefore, we can only grow pineapples at home.

We will reproduce in a vegetative way. To do this, go to the store and "get" the seller, requiring him to choose one or more fruits:

A) unfrozen;

B) undamaged;

C) immature (better rooted);

D) with large, fresh and unbreakable leaves in the rosette, as well as with an intact green "tuft" in the center.

Cut off the selected fruit tip, retreating 2 cm from the lower leaves. We scrub all the flesh from the trunk so that there is no decay. Injured by us, the cut must be washed with a pink solution of potassium permanganate and sprinkled with finely divided charcoal, left alone for several hours.

There are two ways of rooting. The first is to plant it in clean sand (better river) 3-4 cm. Covered with a film, pineapple should be kept at +15 ... + 25, daily moisturizing from the spray. The second is simpler: the tip is placed in a container with water so that its tip only touches the water surface lightly. Be patient: the roots of pineapple can reach enough to land in the ground length in just a month.

The diameter of the pot, where our pineapples will grow at home, should be equal to the diameter of the rosette crown. Composition of soil mixture: sand, humus, turfy land (1: 1: 2). Required drainage layer of 2-3 cm at the bottom of the pot (coarse-grained sand or small-fraction crushed stone). When the top gets two-centimeter lengths of roots, the future pineapple is put into a pot.

He will grow on the windowsill facing south to the window. Eliminate any drafts! Soil mixture should not dry up, maintain its moderate moisture periodical watering with warm water. In spring and summer, pineapple is always poured directly into the outlet, and the water should be there constantly, at least once a month being updated for fresh. In winter, water more carefully, approximately weekly, and only in the soil.

Also in spring and summer, pineapple needs to be fed with fertilizers for bromeliads once every two weeks. Fertilizer must be diluted with water for irrigation and poured into a socket.

The temperature in the room where pineapples are grown at home should not fall below +15 in winter and be within +22 ... + 25 in summer. If the central heating dries up the air, especially in winter, the plant must be regularly sprayed. Approximately one year after planting, the pineapple is best transplanted into a pot of larger diameter.

Pineapples in the home are beginning to bear fruit after 3-4 years. After flowering begins ripening of the fetus, lasting six months. Then another 2-3 years is spent on the release of new "children" -runs - and the plant dies. But the "kids" and take root better than the "parent", and blossom before.

In conclusion, I remind you: pineapple is a delicious and healthy product, but it is not recommended for those who suffer from stomach diseases.
