Gas hose: comparisons and cautions

More recently, gas stoves were connected exclusively with steel pipes. Now, for this, use flexible liner. And with the recent adoption of the new GOST, it is recommended to use a gas hose in braiding. The same document recommends using the bellows gas hose, which is the most resistant to mechanical and gas pressure .

However, with the appearance of hoses, accidents with explosions increased. This is due to the fact that the connection process is fairly simple, and they began to install themselves independently. Without special skills, the "masters" do not tighten the connections tight enough, they do not replace the leaky pipes in time. It happens that the hose begins to melt from an increased temperature or a braid that warms up from wandering currents. In addition, the gas hose is hidden in the wall or under the floor screed, and therefore do not notice when it was worn out and began to pass gas.

At the same time, this does not mean that the hoses are completely inadequate for gas transportation. On the contrary, they are suitable, but when installing them, you must be as cautious and attentive as possible. And it is better to entrust the work to a qualified specialist.

Which hoses are used most often for gas transportation?

Rubber gas hose - this option is the easiest and cheapest. Although it is much thicker than the water inlet, it is minimally protected from temperature changes and mechanical influences. Until recently, rubber sleeves in braid were popular. From the sewer hoses they differ in the core of the structure. Most often it is made of polymer materials, and the braid is made of steel. In some countries, the use of rubber hoses is prohibited at the legislative level.

A more practical and safe option is a gas bellows hose. More simple versions of such a hose are presented in the form of a corrugated hose, and more modernized models are equipped with thermal protection valves. The latter model is much more expensive, but it is able to shut off the gas supply if the room temperature rises above the permissible value. Therefore, bellows sleeves with dielectric properties have a greater demand than those without insulation.

But this does not mean that gas rubber and rubber-fabric hoses will stop using at once. At present, GOSTs are more recommendatory than compulsory prescriptions for implementation. Fortunately, most municipal services respond to such recommendations, therefore, and agitating the population to replace in their apartment a gas hose for bellows.

In essence, all bellows hoses are worthy of attention, since they are practical for gas supply. Since the external hoses for gas and water are similar, each of the branches is appropriately marked. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully study the places of their application and features. Remember that the inside diameter of the gas hose must be at least one centimeter, otherwise distributed when the gas is supplied is not enough to operate several burners and the oven.
