Functions of political power

Political power appears and develops due to the realization of the need to regulate relations in society. It forcibly removes the conflicts and contradictions that arise in society due to differences in interests. The fight over them explains the need for such a form of influence to overcome the resistance of opposing forces.

The functions of political power are those features and properties inherent in it, through which it acts in society and changes it. Most fully they are realized in the process of domination. As a rule, there are four basic functions of political power:

1. Management. With his help, the subject of power realizes its strategy in practice. It is assumed that management should make specific and time-appropriate decisions. Here, the interests of the forces in power are reflected.

2. Monitoring function. For its implementation, such bodies as the Prosecutor's Office, the Control Chamber, and the structures conducting the audits are created.

3. Organizational function. It forms political relations between individuals, parties and classes on the one hand and the state on the other.

4. Educational function. It provides leadership authority, and citizens are encouraged to be law-abiding.

Of course, the functions of political power are not limited to these four. Since they are very numerous in the life of society, they can be supplemented by several more.

1. Preserving the integrity of the society.

2. Formation of a political system in society .

3. Control over different structures of society in their own interests, impact on them.

4. Managing the affairs of the country and society using different methods.

5. Management of the activities of the state apparatus, authorities with the help of their own means.

6. Realization of interests and requests of social groups exercising power functions.

7. Stabilization of relations in society.

8. Support and strengthen the system of power that already exists. This is done not only to protect their interests, but also for the development of society as a whole.

9. Maintain the proportions between consumption and production in such a way that they help each other progress, and not stand still.

At the same time, at the present stage, there are certain features of political power. For all countries, democratic and developed economically, it has already become clear that disregard for the interests of citizens leads only to the inability to satisfy the interests of their groups. The society in this case is destabilized, social order is violated, there is a risk of losing leadership positions. It is for this reason that the interpretation of power by political scientists of the West differs somewhat. They are understood as the ability to express the interests of the whole society through the interests of a particular class. The application of this point of view will help find additional resources for it.

In addition to those listed above, the political power performs functions that are significant in society, and also such:

- achievement of consensus in society;

- Identification of conflicts, their limitation and resolution;

- Management of the affairs of society;

- maintaining order in the society;

- coercion to achieve goals that are meaningful for citizens, and to maintain order in society.

In the system form, the functions of political power are as follows:

- definition of its strategy and tactics;

- Suppression of behavior that deviates from accepted norms;

- analysis of the situation in the society and in the world of politics;

- disposal of various resources.

Based on the functions performed by political power, we can say that it is necessary for the organization of society, maintaining its integrity, as well as for managing relations between citizens and the state.
