Its name has nothing to do with the country of the same name, it is translated as "silvery", so our fishermen have long called it silver, and in some Russian pomor areas it is called golden smelt. Its average size in the catches from the American coasts is from twenty-five to forty centimeters with a weight of two hundred to six hundred grams. From the ocean abysses, close to the European continent, professional fishermen catch it in length of half a meter and weighing up to one kilogram.

Fish argentina is a very useful dietary product containing only two percent of fat and up to twenty percent of proteins. The consistency of meat is very gentle, and the taste is pleasant. Fishing schooners catch it purely for food purposes: cooking, smoking, canning. On the market, it comes more often in a freshly frozen form as semi-finished or whole. It is tasty and fried, and baked, so you can not fail to mention at least one recipe with it.

Baked silver with garlic tomato sauce
