Films about angels: how much opium for the people?
From the very beginning, cinema has been turning to religious motives. The heroes of films often quote the Scripture, the directors interpret it differently, each reads the Bible in his own way. Quite often in the films in the hypostasis of the main characters are angels, and most of the films about the angels are, if not popular, then sufficiently discussed. There is a colossal number of spectators who refute the existence of seraphim with fervor, but at the same time the same number will find a lot of arguments proving the opposite.
Films about angels mostly do not have a clearly defined genre, but balance on the fine line between comedy, drama and even action. The filmmakers boldly march beyond the edge of explosive postmodernism, and the heavenly supernatural beings not only fall in love, indulge in carnal pleasures, but also fight desperately, not always in the name of God.
The genre range is unlimited
And will open a list of the most famous movies about the angels, an ordinary "shooter-killer" with a faint hint of philosophy, proudly called a mystic thriller - "Angel of Light." In this film, the protagonist - Archangel Gabriel (Andy Whitfield) - becoming a man, was able to observe the rules and fulfill the "quest of God." He will not give in to the palm of excellence in action scenes and the famous "Constantine: the lord of darkness" is a mystical thriller, and, more simply, a wild cross between a comic book, a black comedy and a "Matrix" with elements of glamor.
All these films are a bright enchanting show with a little religious overtones. Unlike them, "Angel" (the film of 2013) does not have such frills, but at the same time it is impossible to describe it with meager words, so contradictory and deep emotions emerge during viewing.
Dramas and melodramas with preaching character
Naturally, there are several serials, entirely or partly dedicated to the heavenly creatures: "Fallen", "Touch of the Angel", "Supernatural" and others. But truly preaching can be considered the film "Russian Angel", in which the creators tried not only to tell the truth about the extraordinary child, Vyacheslav Krasheninnikov, but also to send the lost souls to the path of salvation. Although this picture, even among the Orthodox, has caused a mixed and ambiguous attitude.
Films about angels are not a panacea, not a guide to action, not agitational manipulations, but, nevertheless, based on the actions of heroes, the viewer, especially the young (with a weak psyche), can easily add up his opinion and attitude to religion.
