Fiji: attractions and excursions. What's worth seeing in Fiji

The island state, which annually attracts tourists from all over the world, is often compared to paradise on earth. Here, the shaky line between the real world and the fairy tale, into which all the guests of the state in Oceania fall, is blurred. Eternal summer makes this exotic place a popular holiday destination.

Where is Fiji?

The Melanesian country, consisting of more than 300 islands, is located in the southwest of the Pacific Ocean, on the archipelago of the same name. Situated to the east of Australia, the state on its appearance on the map is due to three Europeans.

History of the discovery of the archipelago

In the middle of the 17th century, Dutch explorer A. Tasman discovered several islands in the archipelago. Later on this territory turned out to be the English explorer D. Cook, who did not dare to step ashore, for fear of the local residents who did not shun cannibalism. The military sailor gave the name to the country and applied it to the map of the world, which had already been prepared by another British captain, who was with his team off the coast of the future state. At the end of the XVIII century, W. Bligh in the expedition described almost all the islands of Fiji and told about the indigenous population with dark skin color.

In 1970, the republic gained its independence, and from this time begins the countdown of the development of the tourist business.

The main attraction of the state is nature

And to this day the inexhaustible stream of guests of the state provides a unique ecosystem, delightful landscapes, comfortable tropical climate and amazing hospitality of the people of Fiji. Sights of the state, not man-made and created by man, become the object of admiration of all holidaymakers far from the noise of megacities. The tourists are heartbroken with delight when they see the island world in its original form, and a significant distance from civilization has positively affected the unique nature of the state.

Coral reefs

Particular attention is paid to coral reefs, consisting of snails, plants, fish. Huge colonies of living organisms are considered to be the most complex ecosystems of nature. Unusual tropical forest under water is the richest habitat in the marine world. Most of the world's divers know where Fiji is, and rush here to enjoy the many-sided underwater world.

A wonderful park, ideal for exploring the local nature, is located on Taveuni Island. A colorful mix of tropical and mangrove forests, magnificent waterfalls, fascinating mountains beckons thousands of travelers who enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the park, filled with positive energy. Local residents say that all lovers and couples are obliged to visit this place, which attaches to the relationship with a special romanticism.

Spread out on the territory of 15 hectares of natural park, as if created for a relaxing holiday - a very impressive sight. Tours on hiking trails laid in a green oasis will appeal to adults and children, and the absence of venomous snakes and predatory animals will make a walk in the fresh air absolutely safe.

Travelers who do not come to the best islands in the world for the first time know what to see in Fiji, and rush to the foothills of Naousori, where the most beautiful gardens of the republic are located. The Botanical Park, founded by the American actor R. Barr, initially represented a small collection of orchids collected over 30 years.
