St. Marta in Orthodoxy and Catholicism
There is one important point. In Catholicism, the righteous is known as Saint Marta. Orthodoxy also calls it Martha. The history of her life and good deeds will be told in this article.
Excursion to the history
The Bible takes us to the distant past - at a time when Jesus Christ was living and preaching on the Earth. As you know, not all people were friendly towards Him. But not the sisters Martha and Maria and their brother Lazarus. Jesus loved to visit their home in Bethany.
Two sisters - Saint Marta and Saint Maria - were completely different. The first was the personification of activity. She constantly fussed and bothered around the au pair, wanting to cook the best for the guests. The second of the sisters, Maria, forgetting about household duties, only wanted to listen to the preaching of Christ. She believed that everything earthly is frail compared to the divine providence.
Martha somehow shamed her sister at the guest.
The role of Martha in biblical tales
In Christianity, Saint Marta is one of the Myrrh-bearing women. She is considered the patroness of the household, as well as servants, waiters, cooks.
The great holy Marta is remembered by the Orthodox on the day of June 4, the Catholics on July 29th.
To appeal to the righteous, you do not need to visit churches bearing her name. Only the image depicting Saint Marta is desirable. Icon (the photo is possible - it does not matter). If there is no image or picture, then this is a minor problem. You can say prayers without the icon of the righteous. There are a lot of holy texts dedicated to this saint. And it is not necessary to pronounce any church texts, you can pray in your own words. Saint Marta will certainly hear prayers, sincerely coming from a pure heart, in which there is no evil intent.
