False groats: symptoms and treatment

Acute stenosing laryngotracheitis is the official name of the disease, in which compression of the larynx occurs, which is manifested as a result of a viral infection. This disease has a second, more common name - a false croup. Symptoms of it, as a rule, are manifested in hoarseness of voice, noisy breathing, "barking" of coughing, cyanosis of lips and constant restless state of the child.

As a rule, attacks of the disease occur at night, during the day the false croup does not bother. This is attributed to the fact that at night under the ligaments there is a swelling of the cellulose due to the influx of blood to it. Usually seizures may occur within two to three days, but sometimes the form of the disease becomes protracted.

False groats in adults are extremely rare, as a rule, this diagnosis is put to children. This is a logical explanation: the cause is a narrow laryngeal lumen in babies. As a result, the child's swelling occurs much faster and causes serious consequences in the form of a violation of breathing. Adults can only have a true croup that accompanies diphtheria.

False groats, the symptoms of which can occur in children until about six years, a special danger is for children under one year. During the disease, cough is worse, frequent laryngeal spasms appear.

As a rule, the child's condition is clear, he shows great anxiety, resulting in increased cough and spasm. The diagnosis of "false cereals" at home can be made by examining the child's throat: there are no plaque on the tonsils, cervical lymph nodes are not inflamed and not enlarged. Remember that false croup is not to be confused with diphtheria, because this is used in the treatment of these diseases using different methods and techniques. With true croup, which is typical for diphtheria, there is no hoarseness of voice and barking cough, but there is a touch on the tonsils.

It is important to provide first aid to a child when a false cereal (the symptoms of which you already know how to distinguish) manifested itself at the initial stage. Doctors do not recommend giving any medications before they arrive, if you are not sure of the cause of the attack. If you know what allergen triggered it, you can give an antihistamine. It is allowed to give a no-shpa, which relieves spasm. If the child's breathing is difficult and occurs with a characteristic whistle, this is a sign of intensifying edema. You can not leave a baby for a second, you need to lower the temperature in the room to 18 degrees, and humidity to 70% (which is easy if you have air conditioning).

You can not put cans, soar your legs and hold inhalations if the child has a false croup. Treatment of it is carried out, as a rule, in hospital under the supervision of doctors. If the attack stopped during the first aid to the child, you can not be sure that it will not happen again with renewed vigor. Before the arrival of doctors, the child should be given a warm drink, you can clean your nose to facilitate breathing (especially important is to conduct between bouts of coughing).

Remember that a false cereal, the symptoms of which depend on the degree of difficulty of the attack, you need to be able to prevent. To do this, in the room where the child sleeps, there should be an air humidity of about 65-70%, viral infections should be treated in a timely manner, allergic reactions, if they are in the child, must be prevented, not allowing the action of the allergen on the body. Also remember about regular airing the room and about tempering your baby.

When treating false croup, in addition to taking medication and carrying out procedures that are prescribed by specialists, it is recommended that a special diet be observed. It includes regular intake of multivitamins and control over the intake of the routine, which is contained in citrus, black tea, peel of apples and buckwheat flour.
