Excellent breed of cats - Briton

Especially popular today is a breed of cats, like a Briton. Its correct name is "British Shorthair", but the abbreviated affectionate nickname most fully characterizes the pets of this genus.

People are attracted first of all by the pretty appearance of these animals. And in fact, if you consider the breed of cats with photos, when you look at the representatives of the "Brita" lips themselves stretch in a smile: they are very similar to the teddy bears. And their dense thick short fur is the visiting card that most clearly distinguishes them among the species. Another such feature is their coloration. The breed of cats Briton can boast a wide range of shades of fur. The most popular of them is the so-called "whiskey" - light gray with darker stripes, widely known for advertising the same food, as well as purple, blue, red. Especially rare colors of this breed are golden and ticked golden - such cats are not too much in our country. But with might and main there are other colors - from monochrome to tricolor, tabby (striped), two-color or color-point (the so-called "Siamese"). All of them are attractive in their own way and find their fans.

The breed of cats Briton has a very calm and balanced character. In this they completely repeat the stiffness and ceremoniousness of the representatives of the nation that gave the name to these animals. Sometimes there is a feeling that if the "Britons" could speak, they would necessarily require tea at 5 pm, as is customary in Foggy Albion. They are very balanced and sometimes even slow. Therefore, if you want a smart pet who will happily run to meet you, when you return home and turn the whole house in your games, it's not your cat. The British are very kind by nature, but not too tame and sociable. They can peacefully sleep on their knees or next to you, but do not expect too much of them to be attached.

In keeping the breed of cats, a Briton is quite simple. Of the characteristics of care for them should be noted the mandatory maintenance of the fur in good condition by combing and regular washing with special shampoos. It should also be remembered that this breed, like Persians and exotics, has closely spaced tear ducts due to a short spout, which means that their eyes require careful care. They need to be washed with special lotions or a weak solution of chamomile and cleaned of contaminants. The British diet should be chosen from two options: either fully provide them with natural food, including boiled chicken and vegetables, as well as sour-milk products, or pick up a good factory feed, since many brands have specially designed for this breed.

And finally: in the ads on the sale of kittens you can often find the wording "breed of cats, the British lop-eared." Photos of such animals are similar to classical representatives of British shorthair, except for funny hanging ears. These are the so-called Scottish Fold cats, or Scottish Folds, as they are called felinologists. They have common roots, with the correct breeding of Scots, one of the parents will necessarily be a representative of the British breed, but still many international organizations separate them into a separate species. So we will not confuse them with each other.
