Entering the network password: where to get it? Method of detection and deactivation.

Quite often (especially in small offices with installed local networks), you can see the picture when, like all the machines connected to the local network, work fine, but when accessing a certain terminal requires entering a network password. Where can I get it? The sysadmin, according to most users. No matter how it is! And if the system administrator did not install any passwords at all? What to do then? The answers to these questions are known not only by ordinary users, but even by some beginning system administrators. But nothing particularly complicated here.

Entering the Network Password for Windows 7: Why Do You Need It?

Of course, no one disputes that in offices with a sufficient number of computers connected to the local network, the use of access passwords, both at the direct input level and at the level of remote access, is justified.

But often, even if all the terminals have the Windows 7 operating system installed, they seem to "see" each other on the network, but when, for example, an attempt is made to send a document to print using a network printer, even with the correct settings, nothing happens, Because you need to enter a network password. Where can I get it? The network administrator does not know. In fact, there is a solution to this problem, and it is quite simple.

How can I find out the network password? View data

The passwords themselves are hidden from the eyes of the user of any level (be he a private user, at least the administrator, the system still does not allow him to see the hidden data).

Nevertheless, there is a way out. If you take into account that all folders, including registration data, are invisible, you just need to include in the same "Explorer" the mode of displaying such objects. But in this case it will be difficult to find a folder with passwords.

In fact, everything is much simpler, and you do not need to spend money on entering the network password. Where can I find it and find the parameter that interests us? Elementary! You just need to use the command rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr on the command line running on behalf of the admin.

How to disable network passwords or change them?

In the initial version, we call the "Run" section from the standard "Start" menu or using the Win + R combination.

Then, in the most called console, register the command Controluserpasswords2 and press the enter key. In the menu that appears, remove the tick from the password request for the selected accounts (on Windows 10 it does not work!).

The same actions can be made from the "Control Panel", where you need to access the Network and Sharing Center section, and in the current (general) profile, tick the point of sharing with password protection.

Security policy settings

In the most optimal variant, when you need to enter a network password (where to get it, what to enter, enable or disable the service), you can use one more effective tool - editing group policies with setting access permissions to certain functions of the system at the administrator level or The local user.

For access use the command gpedit.msc, and in the editor - the configuration section of the computer where you need to find the network security scan directory "LAN Manager" and already in it to activate the settings for sending LM and NTLM.

The result

Actually, this is all. If there is a problem with the network password, its use should be simply turned off. If necessary, on Windows 7 and below, you can install a new combination. But this will have to be done on all machines synchronized over the network, and provided that the seventh modification of the system is installed on all.

It goes without saying that in the settings of the Group Policy Editor you can change and apply some additional settings that can be assigned to a certain group or class of users working on the same terminal.
