Design documentation is an inevitable necessity

Under this type of documentation is understood the papers made in graphic and text processing. Together or separately, they determine the device and the constituent fragments of the product, contain special data for the development, execution, control over the preparation process, further operation and possible repair.

The design documentation (CD) and the rules of its maintenance are reflected in the general provisions, reduced to a single system of the interstate standard GOST 2.001-93. In connection with the high degree of diversity of CD, more than 170 GOSTs have been developed. They are called upon to establish uniform rules, appeals, express demands, fulfill norms and regulations for documents. So, GOST 2.004-88 fixes the general requirements to the documentation, executed on graphic and printing devices. The standard specifies the format and forms of office papers, the designations applied to them, the requirements for implementing the prescriptions.

According to GOST 2.102-68 The design documentation is:

• blueprints;
• Technical conditions (TU);
• Specifications;
• Statements;
• scheme;
• Methods and programs of testing;
• Tables and calculations;
• instructions;
• Operational and repair documents, etc.

Some standards fix even insignificant, at first sight, but such necessary elements of business papers, as inscriptions and general registration. For example, GOST 2.104-2006 regulates the nature of the main inscriptions applied to text and graphic documents. A whole series of GOSTs on item 2.3 dictates the scale, formats, drawing of lines and dimensions of the product, its marginal deviations. The control over the fulfillment of the norms and requirements, of which the design documentation is made, is observed with the use of regulatory control in accordance with the guidelines of GOST 2.111-68.

As already mentioned, each product goes through a chain of development stages. First, a design CD is created. Under the terms of the technical proposal, specialized documentation is prepared. Then the outline and technical designs are drawn up . After the described procedures, the time comes when the working design documentation is accepted, consisting of papers for creating a prototype, and then for mass production.

Under the full set of securities understand this composition:

• Design documentation for the product;
• Collections of documents for all compound sections.

In the package of securities (its constituent part), the main design document, which completely defines the product being submitted, is obligatory. For the main act for details take a drawing, and for assembly units and complexes - a specification.

All text documents relating to business securities can be performed electronically using computer technology. The design documentation in graphic execution can also be created and stored electronically (drawings, sketches, models). The standards define that all documents (regardless of the form) of one kind and name can be considered equal and interchangeable.
