Daniel Olbrychsky: filmography, personal life, photo

Daniel Olbrychsky is a famous actor of theater and cinema. He was born in Lović in 1945, on February 27. Olbrychsky in the period from 1963 to 1964 was associated mainly with the Youth Theater TVP. He, oddly enough, did not finish his studies at the Warsaw State Higher School of Theater, since he made his debut in the movie in the film Janusz Nasfeter "Wounded in the Woods" (1964). Today, very few people remember that it was this picture that opened Olbrykhsky, who at the time of participation in the shooting was 19 years old. Below you can see how Daniel Olbrychsky looked in his youth. The photo was taken in 1967.

Youth roles

"Ashes" (1965) - the next film, pushed in the shadow of this debut. He also starred Daniel Olbrychsky. In his youth, he played the role of Rafal Olbromsky in the film by Andrzej Wajda, one of the main ones in the film, was the beginning of cooperation that lasted for many years. Olbrychsky replaced the acting education with an internship in the team of Vaida.

The 20-year-old Daniel Olbrychsky drew attention primarily with his natural charm. The face of this young man expressed an original personality and inner strength. Despite the fact that the actor lacked skill, Olbrychsky in this film created a memorable image, after which he received several proposals from various directors. He played with Janus Morgenstern in the films "Jovita" and "Then there will be silence," in Juliana Dzodzina in the film "Boxer".

1969 in the life of an actor

The actor returned to cooperation with Wajda in 1969. Daniel Olbrychsky took part in the films "All for sale" and "Hunting for the flies." "All for sale" - a picture that was a tribute to Zbigniew Tsibulsky, who died tragically. Olbrychsky acted in the film as an actor.

Tadeusz Sobolevsky noted that he took the place of the deceased in this film, as if accepting his role. Subsequently, Daniel Olbrychsky, whose biography interests us, became really an idol. But he was not like Tsibulsky. He did not try to copy it. In 1969, the actor began collaborating with another director, who played a significant role in his career, Jerzy Hoffmann. The great triumph of Daniel Olbrychsky was the role of Tugai-Beyevich in Henrik Sienkiewicz's film "Pan Volodyevsky." His hero is cruel and merciless, but is at the same time capable of romantic sacrifices. 30 years later he also participated in the film epic "Fire and sword" Hoffmann, playing the role of Tugai-Beyevich's father. Daniel Olbrychsky, whose photos are presented in the article, as you might have noticed, is a very interesting person.

1970 in the career of Olbrych

1970 brought this actor roles in several Waida films, completely unlike previous ones. A big surprise for him was the offer to participate in the "Landscape after the Battle" - a picture created by the work of T. Borovsky. The actor could not imagine himself as a cold observer. But he was able to perfectly convey the character of a man who had lost vitality, a depressed person, trying to return to life after the nightmare of Auschwitz.

Also, it was difficult for Daniel Olbrychsky to play the role of an internally burned, desperate man after the death of his wife in the film "Bereznyak", based on the work of Y. Ivashkevich. The actor proved with these two works that the range of his abilities and talent is much wider than anticipated.

Psychologically penetrating, focused acting was demonstrated also in the film called "Family Life". After not quite successful performance in the 1971 film "Pilate and Others" (directed by Weida), the actor played an excellent role as a groom in the next Waida film, released in 1972 ("The Wedding").

The role of Kmitsica

The role of Kmitsitsa ("Flood"), proposed by Hoffmann Olbrychsky, caused almost a nationwide discussion. In this image, few expected him to see. Having played in the "Flood", this actor created an image that went far beyond the costume film. It turned out to be a truthful and convincing hero in his contradictions - from the bully and the warrior the actor managed to make a thinking character.

"Flood" and "Promised Land"

The actor after the premiere of the "Flood" was again praised by critics. Huge popularity of this movie. He was even nominated for an Oscar. Did not leave Olbrychsky luck. He again, after completing the filming of the "Flood", played in the film Weida 1974 "Promised Land." In this picture, the actor played the role of Borovetsky, a young gentry, a hero deprived of human feelings, ready for the sake of a career for any meanness. Daniel Olbrychsky demonstrated in this role accuracy and skill, although, as he himself admitted, he played "against himself," because at the beginning of his career he wanted to embody the heroes of the noble and straightforward.

"The young ladies from Vilko"

The 1970's in the career of Olbrychsky was marked by another magnificent work. This is the role of Victor Ruben in the 1979 movie "The Young Wilco Lady" (directed by Weida). A picture was taken of Ivashkevich's work. This role is considered by many to be the best in Olbrychsky's career. He created the image of a hero who feels a sense of imperfection. The painting was also nominated for an Oscar.

Emigration

Further works of this actor are as follows. He played in the films "Kung Fu", "Knight" and "Inspection on the spot" (the first picture was published in 1979, the other two - in 1980). After the declaration of martial law in 1980 for political reasons, Daniel Olbrychsky left the country. His filmography in the following years is therefore mainly in the works of various Western filmmakers.

Return to Polish cinema

Also, Olbrychsky appeared in Toporade Witold Leshchinsky and in A. Tshos-Rastavetsky's film "I'm against". In the last picture he played the head of the drug addiction center.

Three years later, the actor starred in the third part of the "Decalogue" by K. Kieslowski. After that - in "The order of feelings" (1993). In 1995, there were such films with his participation, as "Skylark" and "The story of the master Twardowski."

Continuation of cooperation with Wajda

In 1999, Olbrychsky returned to cooperation with Vaida. He played Gervazia in "Pan Tadeusz". Three years later, the actor starred in the movie "Revenge" of the same director. Again he meets with Hoffmann in the above picture "Fire and Sword", as well as in another film ("Ancient Tradition"), in which he embodied the role of Piastun. Also, Olbrychsky starred in such films as "Persona non grata" (2005) and "Weekend Stories" (1997).

Foreign cinema

Daniel Olbrychsky already in the early 1970s he played in 3 films by Miklos Yancho, a Hungarian director. But it was not until 1979 that he began his overseas career as Jan Bronsky in the "Tin Drum" film, awarded with "Oscar" and Golden Palm. Actor in the following years travels through Europe, filming in German, French, Italian films, as well as Russian (after 1990).

In 1981, he won the main role in L. Zafranovich's painting "The Fall of Italy", as well as in the movie "The One and Others" by Lelouch. The next work was the picture of 1982 "Trout" (director Joseph Losey).

Olbrychsky also worked with Khanushkevich on the works of A. Fredro, participated in the performances "Three on Three" (Papkin), "Husband and Wife" (Gustav-Vaclav).

In the 1990s, he appeared in Lapitsky's "Revenge" as Chashnik. The actor also continued to play in the classics, staged by Hanushkevich on the stage of the National Theater in Warsaw. In 2006, in a performance prepared on the occasion of his 60th birthday performance, he played in the Shakespearean play of King Lear in the production of Andrei Konchalovsky.
