Cyclomed (eye drops): description of the preparation

In modern ophthalmology, a drug called "Cyclomed" (eye drops) is often used. This tool is used both for the treatment of eye diseases, and for conducting diagnostic procedures and operations.

The drug "Cyclomed" (eye drops): composition and effect on the body . This drug is available in plastic bottles with a dropper. The main active substance is cyclopentolate hydrochloride, but it also contains disodium soda, benzalkonium chloride and purified water for injection.

When instilled, this agent quickly penetrates the conjunctiva and blocks cholinergic receptors. As a result of this influence, the pupil dilates and relaxes the ciliary muscle, causing a spasm of accommodation.

On the other hand, the drops of "Cyclomed" have a certain systemic influence on the body. For example, they moderately stimulate the work of the central nervous system, especially the respiratory centers. Under the influence of the drug, there is a temporary decrease in secretion in the pancreas, salivary, gastric, sebaceous and sweat glands.

Drops for eyes "Cyclomed": indications for use . Most often the drug is used for diagnostic purposes. As a result of instillation, a spasm of accommodation develops and a persistent dilatation of the pupil is observed. This helps to examine the fundus, determine refraction. The same medicine is used before some operations, especially during the extraction of cataracts.

But it is prescribed and for therapeutic purposes - basically, it is part of complex therapy. Indications for his admission are inflammatory diseases such as scleritis, uveitis, keratitis and others.

The drug "Cyclomed" (eye drops): how to use it correctly ? Burying is necessary in the conjunctival sac. Dosage and mode of reception depends on the purpose of the procedure. When treating inflammatory diseases, patients are usually prescribed to use one drop three times a day.

If the doctor needs to examine the fundus, he digs in one drop two times with a break of ten minutes. When checking the refraction, one drop is administered three times at intervals of fifteen minutes.

It should be noted that the effect of instillation lasts from 6 to 12 hours - at this time the eyes become very sensitive to light as a result of the dilatation of the pupil.

The drug "Cyclomed" (eye drops): contraindications, side effects, overdose . This medicine is well perceived by the body and has virtually no contraindications. Nevertheless, its use should be avoided by patients with glaucoma, as well as those people who by nature have developed too high sensitivity to the components of the drug.

The effect of the drug on the body of a pregnant woman and its properties stand out together with breast milk has not been sufficiently studied, so this drug is not prescribed to women in this state. If the drug is used during treatment of elderly people, the doctor must constantly monitor the indicators of intraocular pressure. This drug should not be administered to patients under the age of three and older than sixty.

After using drops, a small swelling of the conjunctiva and a feeling of discomfort may develop. Due to edema and dilated pupil, visual acuity decreases for a while - during this period it is not necessary to drive vehicles or work with complex dangerous mechanisms.

In some cases, patients complain of dizziness, mild nausea and weakness. Increase in intraocular pressure is quite rare.

Children after use of the drug may feel drowsy and tired. Sometimes there is dry mouth, nausea and headaches. If these symptoms do not pass even a day after taking the drug, it is better to seek advice from a doctor.

As for the overdose, it is accompanied by dry mucous membranes, skin peeling, speech disorders, uncharacteristic emotional reactions and inadequate behavior. If you take a very large dose of the drug (this happens very rarely), then there is a respiratory paralysis and the patient falls into a coma.

In any case, the drug "Cyclomed" (eye drops) should be used only after the appointment of a doctor, adhering to his recommendations.
