Crocheted from Japanese magazines. Japanese Openwork Shawl Crochet

Crocheting skills are more valuable than ever, if you have to knit a shawl. This product is quite specific, although it is considered a classic of knitting art. Part of this is due to the simplicity of knitting shawls, because here you do not need patterns, fasteners, necks and sleeves. On the other hand, simple patterns and patterns are boring for everyone, so modern shawls are knit with the use of delicate and rather complicated ornaments.

The most common types of shawls

Today, traditional triangular shawls are encountered less and less, replaced by more convenient and practical modifications. Although it is necessary to produce a product in the classical style, only a triangular shawl will do. In the runet, the reputation of the very best got knitted shawls crocheted from Japanese magazines. They are appreciated for their beautiful openwork patterns, which are knit from fine yarn. They are distinguished by a large number of rows and airiness of the finished product.

Also very effective are products, with a divergent concentric ornament. For their implementation, the masters themselves develop schemes or adapt what is available under the roof.

So, the types of shawls:

  • Semicircular.
  • Triangular.
  • Shawl scarf (tippet).
  • Shawl-cape.

The appearance of these products is significantly different, but they have a common feature - delicate lightness. Thanks to this, shawls are conveniently thrown over the shoulders on top of other clothes for beauty or to keep warm.

Semicircular Japanese Openwork Shawl Crochet

At the heart of knitting of any type of shawl is either a simple cloth created with the use of one pattern, or a knitting cloth from separate fragments.

A shawl of a semicircular shape can be connected by one or the other method. Below we propose a scheme for making an openwork shawl using the pineapple pattern. Knitting should start from the center and expand the fabric, following the pattern. In this scheme, not all rows are listed, only a general direction is given here and a method for expanding the circular web is demonstrated. To tie a shawl to the desired size, you should continue to expand until the blade reaches the desired width.

I must say that this pattern is very popular, and the principle of expansion can be used not only for shawls. One "pineapple" is formed by 15 rows, which means that its size can be suitable for a summer hat, beret, bag, top and other products.

Triangular shawl: knitting from the corner

Some shawls crocheted from Japanese magazines are related quite simply. For their manufacture, thin threads and a delicate pattern were used. Knitting of such products starts from the corner and is expanded from each side at an angle of 45 degrees. As a rule, models and schemes from Japanese magazines are already compiled in the necessary way. A knitter should only follow the instructions. The figure below suggests a shawl bound by a smooth solid cloth from the corner.

A canvas of triangular shape can also be composed of separately connected fragments. When the main triangle is ready, it is tied on both sides with decorative strapping, and the third is left even. Also on the edges of the harness often attach long tassels or fringe of threads.

This design of the edge is typical for many types of shawls. Sometimes the masters of the main decorative element is transferred to the harness. In this case, the main triangular web is knit with a simple net, and for the manufacture of strapping, patterns or openwork fragments are used.

Triangular shawl: knitting from a wide edge

This kind of triangular shawls is matched by a technique different from the previous one. The photo below shows a coral shawl with a dividing border on the center. This line is formed by the additions forming the shawl triangle.

Begin knitting from several loops and forming a small triangle. Often, the expansion is performed only in the center of the canvas (on the top of the triangle), adding loops to form a right angle (90 degrees). However, if the pattern involves the formation not of a straight line, but an acute angle, then the additions are performed according to the following principle:

  • Addition at the beginning of the series.
  • Formation of the angle (45 degrees) along the center of the canvas, at the top of the triangle.
  • Adding at the end of the row.

Many shawls from Japanese magazines have ready-made schemes for correct expansion. Hoping to get the same shawl as in the magazine, it's better to follow the instructions of specialists, adding to your common sense. The violation of proportions will lead to the contraction of the canvas or, conversely, to the formation of a ruffle.

Shawl-stole

An even broad shawl can be attributed to the simplest in performance. Here it is only necessary to correctly calculate the number of loops and observe the accuracy throughout the whole process of knitting.

To knit even shawls fit almost all Japanese azhur hook. The photo below presents a selection of simple ornaments that allow you to quickly and easily make a stole. In addition to these patterns, square or round motifs are suitable for making even shawls. Canvas can be made only from these fragments or connect some more patterns (as in the photo with a blue scarf).

Shawl in the form of a cape

While browsing the Japanese magazine on crochet, you can come across such an interesting kind of shawls, like a shawl-cape. These products have a shape more approximate to the circle. Sometimes as schemes for such shawls use napkins, tablecloths, umbrellas and other sketches designed for knitting large circular canvases.

When knitting shawl-capes are knitted, the circle is not closed, it is knit by return, rather than circular rows. Thus, a large canvas with a "cut" going to the center is obtained.

Similar shawls crocheted from Japanese magazines are worn, tossed on the shoulders and placing loose ends in front. The shawl center is located behind the base of the neck. This shawl-cape is more comfortable to wear, it better corresponds to the proportions of the human body and does not move away during the walk.

The described methods of knitting shawls include only the general principles of their manufacture. There are a lot of project implementation options and each of them has its own specifics.
