Cortexin injections

The injections of "Cortexin" include the active ingredient cortexin and an auxiliary substance glycine (stabilizer). The drug belongs to the group of polypeptides from the cerebral cortex of cattle. Medication is a nootropic remedy.

The injections of "Cortexin" are available in the form of lyophilate for the preparation of a solution intended for intramuscular injection. Liofizilat is a powder or a porous mass of white (a yellowish tinge is possible).

The injections of "Cortexin" contain a complex of low-molecular fractions of polypeptides, dissolved by water. They have the ability to penetrate the nerve cells through the blood-brain barrier. The injections of "Cortexin" have a neuroprotective, nootropic, tissue-specific and antioxidant effect.

Nootropic action of the drug improves higher brain functions, memory and learning process, concentration of attention, as well as increased resistance to various stress effects.

Neuroprotective action reduces the toxic effect of psychotropic substances, provides protection of neurons from lesions by various factors of endogenous neurotoxic nature.

The antioxidant effect promotes inhibition of peroxide lipid oxidation in neurons, an increase in the survival of neurons in conditions of hypoxia and oxidative stress.

Tissue-specific action promotes activation of neuronal metabolism of nervous (peripheral and central) systems, reparative processes, improvement of functions in the cerebral cortex and general nervous tone.

The medication is used for complex therapy of disorders in the blood circulation of the brain, craniocerebral trauma and their consequences, cognitive disorders (disorders of thinking and memory), encephalopathy. Indications for use include acute and chronic encephalomyelitis and encephalitis, epilepsy, decreased ability to learn, asthenic conditions. The drug is also used for delays in speech and psychomotor development in children, various forms of cerebral palsy.

The drug is not used for its individual intolerance. Contraindications include the prenatal period (due to the lack of results of clinical studies) and lactation. In cases of necessity of application of a preparation at feeding by a breast, it is necessary to refuse from feeding.

Before administration, the contents of the drug vial should be dissolved in 1-2 ml of novocaine solution 0.5% or water for injection, or a solution of sodium chloride. Dosage of the drug for an adult is 10 mg for ten days. Cortexin is given to a child taking into account the body weight. Up to twenty kilograms, the dosage is 0.5 mg / kg. With a body weight of more than twenty kilograms, the dosage is 10 mg for ten days. If necessary, the therapeutic course is carried out in three to six months.

If you follow the instructions for use, an overdose is not noted. In some cases, taking the drug may cause an individual hypersensitivity to its components.

The interaction of the drug with other drugs in practice is not described.

The drug is prescribed by a doctor and is released by prescription. Use of medication should be accompanied by medical supervision.

In some cases (depending on the symptoms), they designate analogs instead of the "Cortexin" preparation. These include "Timalin", "Epithalamin", "T-activin".

Most parents respond positively about the effect of the medication. Taking the drug significantly stimulates the child's physical and mental development. In comparison with other drugs (for example, "Piracetam"), "Cortexin" is characterized as a milder drug.
