Chronic sinusitis: symptoms and treatment

Chronic sinusitis is a complication of long-term sinusitis, which lasts more than 3 months.

Sinusitis is a disease in which the mucous membrane of the nasal sinuses is inflamed. There can be many causes of the onset, as a rule, the inflammatory process covers the adjacent mucous membranes of the nose (rhinosinusitis).

REASONS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF DISEASE

The state of the paranasal sinuses is determined by the side walls of the nose, where the nasal sinuses are located and narrow passages between the structures that form this wall.

Deformation of intranasal structures (crests and curvature of the septum of the nose, anomaly of the nasal concha and hypertrophic rhinitis) contributes to the disruption of the natural cleansing (drainage) of the paranasal sinuses, which causes stasis inside the sinuses.

Viral infection is one of the predisposing factors of sinusitis. It provokes swelling of the mucous membrane and raises the secretion of glands producing mucus. This leads to the blocking of the natural anastomoses of the paranasal sinuses. At the same time, the edges of the joints touch, making it difficult to deduce the secret from the sinuses. Disturbance of ventilation contributes to the stasis of secretion, which is the starting point for the reproduction of saprophytic flora in the nose. With an active nose blowing, the purulent secret enters the sinuses from the nasal cavity, blocking the outlets. In this case, a bacterial infection also joins .

Chronic rhinitis and inhalation of frosty or polluted air cause chronic sinusitis.

The main causes of the disease are allergic reactions, immunodeficiency states, bronchial asthma.

SINUSIT CHRONIC, SYMPTOMS

The main signs of sinusitis are a constant violation of nose breathing and its congestion.

The mucous nose is reddened, swollen, swollen. This is accompanied by discharge from the nose, which are mucous, serous and mucopurulent. Often, the sense of smell is weakened, and mouth breathing causes dryness and swelling of mucus in the throat and nasopharynx. Chronic sinusitis leads to a decrease in hearing and headaches.

Allergic rhinitis is accompanied by sneezing attacks, itching in the nasopharynx, choking in the throat, complicated nasal breathing with considerable liquid discharge from the nose.

Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis is accompanied by a constant difficulty breathing through the nose, active mucous discharge from the nose, a decrease in smell and hearing, nasal.

CHRONIC SINUS, TREATMENT

Before treatment it is necessary to find out the cause of chronic inflammation of the nose.

Only after this, appropriate treatment can be prescribed, including:

  • Vasoconstrictive drops;
  • Hormonal preparations;
  • Antibacterial ointments;
  • Binding agents;
  • Physiotherapy for the nose.

Chronic sinusitis is treated for a long time, but in any case it is necessary to rinse the nose with liquids prepared in a pharmacy, or a weak solution of salt, preferably, sea salt. Improperly selected medicines do much harm, despite the apparent relief.
