Choosing a water tank in the bath

If you decide to build a sauna on your site, you have to solve a lot of problems. First, the external and internal appearance of the future structure should be considered. And if earlier the whole design was reduced, as a rule, to the construction of the most simple log-house "chicken coop" with a combined sink and a therma and a tiny dressing room, now they are building luxurious baths with a lot of separate rooms. Some even manage to equip them with a mini-pool. Secondly, the choice of materials and components. The bathhouse will have to be equipped with all the necessary things and, among other things, put a water tank inside it: separately for cold and for hot water. As it turned out, today there are many options, and the capacity to choose is not so easy.

Hot water tank

There are quite a few requirements for a hot water tank . It must be resistant to corrosion, temperature changes and keep the heat well. And of course, it should be a water tank made of metal. It remains only to find out what kind of metal. Tanks for hot water are made of stainless steel or cast iron. Theoretically, a welded square tank of sheet material can also be installed, but it will quickly rust and flow. The stainless steel container at first glance seems preferable: it is lighter (hence it will be easier to install it), quickly warms up and is not susceptible to corrosion. However, such a water tank will cool down more quickly. In addition, thin plates can deform with time. With a cast-iron product, nothing like this can happen, but it will be much more difficult to install it.

Now let's talk about the form. In principle, any one will do, but experts do not recommend buying square tanks. This will inevitably lead to the formation of zones with different temperatures, which lead to expansion and deformation of the metal. When choosing a mold, you should follow the method of heating the water (direct or indirect), as well as the installation site. There may be three of them: just above the furnace (the traditional version), a remote tank with a heat exchange system through copper or brass pipes or directly on the chimney ("samovar" tank). Which method is preferable, it is not known, but recently the second and third variants have been increasingly chosen. This allows you to increase the space in the bath due to the fact that the water tank is moved beyond it.

The size of the tank should be calculated on the basis that each person needs about 10-12 liters of boiling water. However, it is not recommended to put a hot water tank less than 50 and more than 100 liters.

Tank for cold water

In principle, a similar container can be made of any material: at least from metal, at least from plastic. However, there is one nuance: plastic containers should not be located near the heating zone or in the steam room - from the heat they can deform. And some types of plastics begin to release harmful substances, sometimes with an unpleasant odor, when the temperature rises. Experts can be advised to return to the old Russian traditions: use a wooden barrel or a kadushka as a water tank. Such containers are not only functional, but also create a special atmosphere and are an excellent complement to the interior.
