Chassis of the car

How is the chassis of the car? In most cars, the function of support for the engine, undercarriage, transmission, control mechanisms, additional equipment, transported goods, the driver and passengers is carried on their body, and not the frame, such as motorcycles, buses and trucks. In addition, the body replaces all negative electrical wires, being the basis for all electrical equipment in the car. The structure of the body of the car has a frame and hinged nodes. And the skeleton, in turn, consists of the bottom, the front, the tail, the stamped panels, the wings and the roof. The chassis of the car is attached directly to the carcass and consists of two suspension brackets - front and rear, tires and wheels.

What is a suspension?

This is a series of devices, the function of which is to bind together the wheels of the car and its body. The suspension is designed to transform, soften and absorb the impacts from the roadway, which are transmitted to the body. There are two types of pendants: dependent and independent. The feature of the independent suspension is that it allows wheels that are located on a common axis, regardless of each other, to move in a vertical plane. And the dependent suspension does not give such an opportunity, both wheels are rigidly connected to one another.

Let's consider the device of a running gear of the car more in detail. Let's start with the front suspension.

It consists of:

  • Wheel hubs;
  • The brake disc;
  • The ball pin of the upper support;
  • Pivoting fist;
  • The ball pin of the lower support;
  • Compression stroke buffer;
  • Suspension springs;
  • Shock absorber;
  • Upper suspension arm;
  • The bottom lever of a suspension bracket;
  • Stabilizer rods.

The chassis of the car is connected to its body by means of parts such as springs and shock absorbers. The task of the springs is to soften the blows that are transmitted to the body from the road, but at the same time the car starts to swing and then the shock absorbers come into play, extinguishing their own oscillations of the suspension. Another important element that the chassis of the car has is called the anti-roll bar. In the case when the car begins to heave on the board in a corner, it twists and corrects the position of the car body. The running of the car lasts longer, the wear of the tires decreases, and the consumption of gasoline is reduced by another trick in its device, namely, installing the wheels at a certain angle with respect to the horizontal and vertical planes.

Rear suspension. Device

She is also dependent and independent. It consists of:

  • Compression stroke buffer;
  • Suspension springs;
  • Rubber bushings of the shock absorber's eyes;
  • Additional compression buffer;
  • The rear brake pressure regulator;
  • Shock absorbers;
  • The lever of a drive of pressure regulators.

Vibration damping is performed in the same way as for the front.

Another part of the running gear is tires and wheels. On the wheels is transmitted from the engine torque, which drives the vehicle. Tires soften blows from roughnesses of a line thanks to own elasticity and the compressed air which is inside of them. The wheel is fastened by means of nuts and bolts to the hub and consists of a tire and a disc. Tires come with and without a camera. The tubeless tire is tightly connected to the rim with a special collar on it. The components of the tire - this is the frame (cord), sidewalls, protector, side. The basis of the tire is the cord, it is made of capron, wire, fiberglass and the like. Tires are summer, winter or all-season, depending on their design. They are also divided into radial and diagonal. Radials are more elastic, but diagonal ones have greater strength, especially on sidewalls.
