Characteristics and habitat of crucian carp. How to catch the carp a newbie. Conditions for catching a fishing rod.
Carp is perhaps the most common fish of water with stagnant water and slow flow. Know how to catch the carp, not only experienced anglers know, but also people who have been on fishing by force once. However, despite this, many aspects of catching large and medium carps remain a mystery.
Having figured out a bit in the metric and generic characteristics of the crucian, you can give some data about it. This fish belongs to the family of cyprinids, loves well-heated water with minimal or completely absent flow. In the size of the carp it can reach a half-meter length and weight of 3-5 kilograms, depending on the habitat, the nature and quantity of food. However, most of the crucian brotherhood, which, by the way, is divided into two subspecies (gold and silver, possible hybrids), has small dimensions - 9-24 cm, weighing up to 600 grams (more often up to 150 g) - and keeps flocks.
Speaking directly about how to catch the carp, it should be noted that there are many features and aspects of catching. This directly relates to the region, the weather conditions, the time of the year and the place of the predominant or presumed concentration of carp in the reservoir. The most favorable time of year for catching this fish is the period of open water, although experienced fishermen successfully catch it from the ice. One is indisputable: the crucian is best caught at a relatively high water temperature (about 18 degrees). The ideal weather for his fishing is considered to be a calm, cloudy summer day, but, given the widespread prevalence of the carp, it is difficult to predict the nature of his biting in a particular place. Speaking about the terrain, it should be noted that even in neighboring, almost identical reservoirs, the crucian can behave differently. The preferred place for catching crucian carp is a thicket of various algae and reeds not far from the shore, only a large crucian is kept at a depth. In the rivers, representatives of the carp population often stay near the rapid current, behind water obstacles, which complicate the water current. The best time of day for catching the crucian carp is the dawn and the sunset.
The capture of a larger crucian requires careful preparation. However, do not forget about the caution of a large carp. This means that the rod should be neutral color (gray, dark green), the presence of a coil is not necessary, the hook is dark. The size of the float should be minimal (with a load capacity of not more than 1.5 grams), and the line is poorly visible in water, not thick. It is better to invest in a stronger, but thin fishing line no more than 0.16-0.2 mm thick: this will increase the chances of catching fish.
Considering how to catch the carp, do not forget about the need to protect nature and the fact that fishing is a resting place, not fishing. Therefore, it is necessary to release small individuals, as well as all the fish, if it is not used for food.
