Change of passport in 20 years - what to do?

The twentieth anniversary is celebrated, and ahead of you is not so joyful, but very necessary event. You are waiting for the trouble of exchanging a Russian civil passport. Do not overstay the fees, because just a day after your birthday, a passport with your teenage picture can theoretically be declared invalid (expired). Under the law, the replacement of the passport in 20 years must be made by you within 30 days, otherwise do not be surprised if the purse will be relieved for a fairly decent amount of one and a half to two thousand rubles to pay an administrative fine.

So, it is necessary to replace the passport, 20 years have already been fulfilled - it remains to answer the age-old question of what to do and where to turn? First of all, try not to lose your old passport. Then go to the photographer for two photos for a new one. He will certainly tell them the right size, and make it quickly. In a bank close to you, pay the state fee for the procedure for exchanging passports and save the received receipt. At the end of the above manipulations, there are two options for action - to write an application for an exchange with the nearest Federal Migration Service (many call it a passport), or contact a multifunctional public services center (such offices are open in many cities). Moreover, you can write an application to the Federal Migration Service not only personally, but also by going to the Internet portal for public services. When submitting an electronic application, photos, a receipt for payment of the fee and an old passport, it is necessary to prepare and bring it to the FMS department on the appointed day.

If the replacement of the passport at the age of 20 was carried out at the place of your permanent residence, then within ten days you will become the happy owner of the document confirming Russian citizenship and proving the identity. But in the case when you are away from home (study at the institute or work), the procedure is somewhat prolonged. When you apply to the OMS at the place of your actual stay, and you need a passport replacement in 20 years, the terms of its issuance are extended to two months.

If an identity document is vital, in that case, for a period when the passport is replaced in 20 years, ask for a temporary identity card. Having such a document on hand, you can avoid many unpleasant moments and misunderstandings.

And a few more interesting nuances that can arise when exchanging a passport:

- Some, especially zealous officials may require a written or military ticket. Such claims are illegal, therefore they must take the documents, as well as issue a new passport, in any case. But it is not ruled out that the issuance of a new passport will be accompanied by a bonus in the form of handing in a notice on the compulsory registration of military registration. However, by and large, such a paper is extremely informative and does not oblige;

- if you are a young bride and have already changed your passport due to the acquisition of a new family name, the replacement of your passport at the age of 20 is still necessary;

- When you meet your twenty years of age, passing an urgent service in the army, the passport replacement will be required only upon return to civilian life;

- the requirements of a symbolic fee in any, even a small amount, for filling out an application form for an exchange or processing documents are illegal.

And finally remember that the next exchange will be only a quarter of a century, so you should take care of the received passport. After all, his unscheduled replacement in connection with the loss or damage is much more problematic.
