Cars "Iveko": the country-producer, the history of the brand

Cars "Iveco" (the country of origin - Italy) produces one of the largest global concerns. It is still developing dynamically, introducing all new technologies.

The history of the concern "Iveco"

The history of the concern that produces cars Iveco, whose manufacturing country is Italy, dates back to November 1974. This year, an agreement was signed with the machine-building German holding company to divest one of its branches from its possession, which was led by FIAT.

As a result, the company "Iveko" was established. It quickly grew to the level of holding and began to produce trucks.

About Iveco

IVECO was called in decoding by the Automobile Corporation for industrial use. Formally, the holding company consisted of two companies, but still included Italian and French units. The head office of IVECO was in Amsterdam. It turned out that the holding united 5 Italian automakers:

  • OM.
  • Lancia Veicoli Speciali.
  • Fiat (cargo unit).
  • Unic.
  • Magirus Deutz.

Group development

To preserve the best features of each company, the management of the concern decided to continue the directions that the companies were engaged in before the merger. As a result, trucks under the former brand were constantly appearing in TV commercials about the construction of Iveco.

The country-producer of the brand was very proud of this. Another company continued to manufacture high-performance engines, which equip the machinery. Through one of the firms the holding went to the "Club of Four". It also included companies Saviem, DAP and Volvo.

Volume of production

As a result, the Iveco trucks, whose producing country remained the same, were equipped with light and modern cabs over the engines. And only in the first year, 95,000 cars were produced. At the disposal of the concern was a program for the manufacture of trucks of various classes, differing in construction. The holding decided to stop production of almost 50 percent of the models and refused to release analogs in other countries.

Transitional period in the development of the holding

The time has come when some brands of cars were equipped with cabs and other models. Production constantly moved to different factories in search of the best technological solutions. There were disputes about two types of diesel engines. The winner was the subdivision of Fiat, offering powerful engines with liquid cooling.

During the transition period, Iveco cars, the producing country of which provided all kinds of support, were produced under different brands that joined the name of the concern (for example, IVECO-FIAT), etc. But, despite the accompanying problems in the development of the company, in 1978 The holding increased production volumes. This growth continued in 1979.

Own model line of concern

To date, who produces Iveco? Country of origin - all the same Italy. The concern has long been specialized in trucks. He started production of his own model line. First a light series of "Daily" appeared. The mass of cars was from 3.1 to 4.5 tons. The model was developed in Brescia. In the south of Italy, an agreement was signed in Foggia on the permanent production of these cars. Mass production of a 4-cylinder 8140 diesel engine with direct injection was established.

Since 1978. The engine began to be installed on the rear-wheel drive trucks of the semi-hood configuration. They were the first light trucks in the world to enter mass production. The basis of trucks included frame chassis, which have a 4-speed or 5-speed gearbox. The car was fitted with disc brakes and an independent torsion suspension, as well as a two-circuit brake hydraulic system.

The 49 lineup included cars up to 2.3 tons with all-metal wagons. Then there were trucks up to 5 tons, equipped with powerful engines with a pipe-chopper. Since the 80's, all the cars in the model range received a pre-chamber motor, which was increased by the stroke of the piston by 2 mm. Then followed a series of "TurboDaily". She received a smoothed cockpit and a similar radiator grille.

In 1989, these models accounted for 2 percent of the European fleet. And the lineup of Iveco-Daily (producer - the country of Italy) numbered 59 variants. Bumper cars to medium-duty were formed on the basis of the previous brands of OM and Fiat. Then the party Z ("Zeta") followed. They were up to 100 versions of models with a mass of 5 to 10 tons. The engines were the same - from 85 to 135 horsepower.

All-wheel drive models of Iveco, whose manufacturing country is Italy, remained without significant changes. On the basis of "Fiat" production of the average scale began, which received engines 8060. By the end of the 80s only the more modern models remained. There was a new series of "TurboDzeta". The car's lineup consisted of over 100 variants.

Heavy trucks (company) "Iveko"

The country-producer of this model has not changed for many years. Concern began developing heavy trucks in 1976. The cabins were opening and had berths. The engines in this series were soon improved by the 6-cylinder 8210. And thanks to the installation of the turbocharger a whole family of motors from 340 to 380 horsepower appeared. These engines in 1980 were the basis of the series "Turbo", which had 22 variants of onboard trucks and tractors. They differed in the spaciousness of the cabins and the size of the wheelbase.

In 1981, a tractor "TurboStar" appeared with the engine 8280.42. This model became the basis for other heavy cars "Iveco". Since 1989, the engine with intercooled supercharging has been used. As a result, the engine's power increased to 476 liters. from. Then came new models of trucks from two- and three-axle cars with a weight of 24 to 33 tons. They were equipped with Italian engines with liquid cooling. The old models were mainly used only for construction.

Completion of the formation of the holding

Formation of "Iveco" was completed by 1983. Most cars were produced under the holding's brand. And he began the second stage of expansion, pouring in himself other companies and creating new manufactures (Yugoslav, Austrian factories, etc.). The license assembly of the Iveco cars was arranged. In the 90s, the holding's branches appeared in Russia and Ukraine. Fire trucks "Iveco" (the country of origin - Italy) began to produce also in Germany. As a result, Iveco became the largest transnational concern.

In 1996 the third generation of "Daily" was released, and in 1999 - the fourth. It has a lineup of 3000 options. These trucks were awarded the "2000 Wagon" award. And the new series of "YuroCargo" got the title "Truck of 1992". The heavy series "YuroTek" received in 1993 the highest award. The model range of "YuroTrakker" has 700 variants of equipment.

In 1999 appeared "YuroMover", low-frame chassis, which have a box-machine. In the same year, 140,000 trucks were produced at the enterprises of the Iveco holding, the model number of which was 4,500. And in terms of the number of cars with a mass of more than 6 tons, the concern came in 9th place in the world. As a result, the holding became the company that determines the world progress.

Clientele

At the headquarters of Iveco (Turin), it is assured that the key to the success of the concern is not only excellent production, but also customer care. Designers are engaged in the improvement of cars, technology - production, and other departments update the company's service system.

For example, there is a program "Virtual class", which trains the mechanics of all services "Iveco." In this program almost all faults are recorded, their causes, indicated what to change, and how it looks. Employees of the concern state that the program has increased the understanding of the machine tenfold.
