Carbide-tipped plates and their types. Where carbide inserts are used

Carbide inserts are part of a cutting tool that conducts high-precision workpiece machining by removing material to form chips. These elements are used for turning, drilling, countersinking, milling, as well as deployment and other operations, guarantee the accuracy of processing.

In the manufacture of these elements, compressed powders are used, which are based on titanium carbide, tungsten carbide and other compounds that are alloyed by exposure to high temperatures and mechanically processed. Ultimately, the plates acquire wear resistance, hardness, and also heat resistance. By the way, the last characteristic can be noted that the plates can easily tolerate the impact up to 1150 degrees. This ensures a stable quality of material processing and durability, provided that the cutting mode is correct.

Types of plates by fixing method

Carbide-tipped plates, which are now on sale in a large assortment, can be classified according to different signs, among them one must single out the method of attachment in the tool. For this parameter, the elements can be divided into two groups. The first group: plates napaynye. The second includes carbide-tipped plates. The latter are fixed mechanically, which makes it possible to speed up the process of replacing the failed plates. Among other things, they can be used many times.

The first method is provided by turning the plate, while it is possible to operate multi-faceted disposable items. Replacement in this case is not provided because of the complexity of providing the necessary edge geometry. The napaynye plates are fastened and held in the tool, and as far as bluntness is sharpened repeatedly.

Types of plates from a variety of hard carbide

Carbide-tipped plates can differ in the kind of hard alloy that determines the mechanical characteristics and scope of use. For example, VK8 is used for roughing, namely milling, planing and cutting, at the same time, blanks from structural steels, gray cast iron, and hard-to-work alloys can be used. For sale you can find T15K6 plates, which are used for finishing or semi-finished milling, turning and other types of processing of carbon and alloy steels.

Varieties of plates in geometric form

Carbide-tipped plates can have a round, square, orthorhombic, pentagonal, trihedral shape, and also have the form of a parallelogram. The number of faces is determined by the number of cutting edges and the length of use during processing.

Areas of use of plates VK3, VK3M and VK6

The first of these are solid carbide soldered plates, they are used for finishing turning with a small section of cut, unfolding holes, as well as final tapping. It is possible to use such elements in other similar operations when it is necessary to use non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron and alloys, non-metallic materials such as fiber, glass, rubber, plastic and fiberglass. With success VK3 are used for cutting sheet glass.

VK3M is used for turning, threading, boring and unfolding, which is finishing. Bleached cast iron, hard alloyed steels, cemented and hardened steels, as well as highly abrasive materials that do not have a metal composition can be used. Mills with carbide plates VK6 are successfully used for semi-black or rough turning, milling complex surfaces, preliminary threading, as well as boring and reaming holes. You can work with gray cast iron, non-ferrous metals and alloys, as well as materials that do not have metal.

Cutting Plates

Plates carbide for the cutters are manufactured according to different state standards. For example, on the basis of GOST 25395-90, plates for boring, boring, revolving incisors are produced. The same standards apply to scoring cutters when there is a need to get blind holes. Can also be used and turret cutters. GOST 25402-90 are used for automatic cutters, as well as boring, straight and straight. GOST 25398-90 are taken as a basis when plates for threaded and finished cutters are made.

Plates of the brand Sandvik

Sandvik carbide plates come on sale in different alloys. For example, AC25 is a product that can be considered one of the latest achievements. Such plates are widely used in processing in a wide range of cutting modes. Particularly well suited for work with cast iron, stainless alloys, and structural steels. With the help of these elements, it is possible to obtain high processing accuracy, as well as wear resistance at a cutting speed of 100 to 200 m per minute. AC40 is a carbide-interchangeable plate, which is also used for processing different materials. Ideally proved themselves in work with alloys based on chromium and nickel, the plate is able to perform its work without flaw, and with semi-finished processing shows high efficiency even at a cutting speed of 200 m per minute.

Alloy plates

AL20 is an element that has a titanium coating and an additional lubricating layer, the elements provide an insignificant coefficient of friction during operation, which allows to obtain a smaller heating in the cutting zone. It is particularly preferable to use such plates for processing alloy steels.

AL40 is a carbide-tipped plate, which also has a titanium coating, but is used for milling operations accompanied by vibration. It is preferable to operate these elements at low cutting speeds, only then the plate will cope with the processing of high-temperature alloys.

AP25 is a replacement part that is used on the cutting tool. The plate acts as a general purpose product, has no coating and is advantageously used in the processing of stainless, alloyed and carbon steels. A hard alloy allows obtaining high stability and strength of the plate during roughing.

AP40 is used for rough and rough processing of structured and tool steels, as well as for work with steel casting. It copes well with heavy loads, so the plate can be used under particularly difficult conditions.
