History

Botanical Garden of Petrozavodsk University was founded in 1951 on the coast (northern) of Petrozavodsk Bay of the majestic Onega Lake, at the very foot of the Devil's Stool.

The territory was divided into several zones:

  • Park part;
  • Botanical expositions;
  • Collection and experimental sites;
  • Uterine plantations and nurseries;
  • Economic infrastructure;
  • Protective plantations.

Headed Botanical Garden (Petrozavodsk), whose address is Lenin Ave., 33, a remarkable scientist and unbeaten organizer Mikhail Ivanov. Until 1963, the territory of the park was the construction of the main objects: buildings with offices for summer practice of students, greenhouses, laboratory buildings, greenhouses, water mains and roads were laid.

In the summer of 2011 in the garden was opened in a solemn setting stone age object - "Pagan Glade". This is a unique copy of this glade of ancient Saami with a labyrinth of four paths and boulders-seids.
