Bird tap dance: how it looks and how it is characterized

Do you know a lot of birds with original names? We do not think so. For example, a bird tapping. How many people have seen it, or at least imagine the appearance of this bird? We will try to tell you more about it.

A tap-bird is a small bird, whose size is only a little more than a cottage. But because of its long tail, it seems much larger. But if you see this wonderful creature, you are unlikely to assess its size, as all the splendor of appearance will fall into the eye. Its original name was a bird tapping because of its amazing voice, which is very similar to the knocking of heels at the same dance.

In its coloring prevail light and tender tones. If we are talking about a male, then his crown is crowned with a bright carmine-red spot, the entire neck and back are slightly whitish, covered with unsharp "notches" of light gray color.

Bird tapping is the owner of a tadpole of a wonderful pink color. But the "crown of the program" is a goiter and abdomen, painted in a magnificent crimson-pink color.

Unfortunately, females are not so beautiful. However, this is a common phenomenon among songbirds. You can describe its coloring in a few words: the entire body of the bird is light gray, covered with small strips of crimson or red. It is not for nothing that it is called a "fiery prickle".

Lives tap bird in the middle belt of North America and Eurasia. To the south, they fly only at the time of the wanderings in especially cold winters. So, in the Altai Territory, they are rightly called "the messengers of winter", as tap dancing plays the role of our bullfinches.

Most often these birds can be found along glades, glades and coppices in the winter forest. In regions with forest-steppes on a square kilometer, up to a hundred individuals can be found.

The process of reproduction begins when everywhere there is a continuous snow cover. Unlike many songbirds, this species is very "social": the nests of several pairs can be on one bush. Moreover, this amazing view sometimes divides the nesting places with thrush-dumpling.

In the tundra there are no bushes and trees, and therefore nests are located among the bushes of cowberry and other berry crops of the North. The container for eggs differs in its thoroughness. Birds for its construction use a lot of fine twigs, moss and grass, as well as their own fluff and feathers. In it, a bird tap-dance (photo of which is in the article) lays not more than five small eggs of brown color. Only the female incubates them, and the male is responsible for providing her with food.

Nestlings hatch in a couple of weeks. As much they are sitting in the nest in a hopeless manner. If the weather is too cold, then the female continues to stay with them, and the male is assigned the duties of procuring the whole family.

Some pairs after feeding the first brood sit on the second nest, and often do it next to the old place. Sometimes in the difficult matter of feeding new chicks helps the previous litter.

But their most remarkable feature lies in the astonishing fearlessness of these birds: their nest can be approached really close, and if you visit him for a few days, tap dancing sometimes gives yourself a pat. Not surprisingly, they became incredibly popular pets in tsarist times.

In short, tap dancing is not only beautiful, but also extremely unusual in its behavior.
