In the Tisulsky District of the Kemerovo Region, Lake Berchikul is located. Its length is 8 km, and the width on the average - 4 km. On the Kuzbass it is considered to be the largest. It is a popular place for beach recreation and fishing.

Title History

Among the locals there are two names of the reservoir. One is Berchikul, the other is Wolf Lake. These hydronyms have been used for several centuries. There is one legend, which says that earlier on the shore of the reservoir there were large deposits of gold. Thanks to this, the expression appeared: "Take the crop and collect it." However, this information is not officially confirmed.

Uniqueness of the lake

Berchikul - a lake that strikes a variety of natural conditions on the coast. Here there are various deposits of granites and marine limestones. The bottom of the reservoir is sandy and muddy. The uniqueness of this place is also in the fact that there are four natural landscapes: mountain-light-coniferous, forest-steppe, mountain-taiga and lake-river.

The water regime of the lake also deserves attention. The fact is that almost nothing follows from it, only one small river. In the warm season a lot of water evaporates from its surface. However, in this phenomenon there is nothing mystical - it has long been established that the lake replenishes due to underground sources and mountain streams. They are the main "suppliers" of water. Due to this, it is possible to draw the following conclusion: Berchikul is a mountain lake, source and spring lake.

The southern part of the coast of this reservoir also has a unique landscape. For three kilometers there is a lowland, which in some parts was bogged down (in the past, this area was the bottom of the lake).

Lake dimensions

From the above, one can easily come to the conclusion that Berchikul is a lake, which in the past was much larger, in all probability, about three times. There is a theory that the water passed through the mountains and flowed into another pond. As a result, the remainder is the current Wolf Lake, along with a small swamp located nearby. The rupture is clearly visible. And that flowing river, in all probability, was formed as a result of mountain streams.
