Belarusian artist Anna Silivonchik and the magical world of her paintings

Anna Silivonchik is a Belarusian artist who currently lives and works in Minsk. She does not just write pictures and create designer textiles, she creates new worlds. The lively, ambiguous, piercing characters of her works amaze with metaphors and sarcasm, they charge emotionally, they are remembered forever. Once you see them, you want to look at them again and again.

Of course, the work of Anna Silivonchik has both hot fans and opponents. By and large, this is absolutely normal, because arguing about tastes is meaningless. The main thing is that it leaves no one indifferent. And this is already a huge merit of her as an artist. After all, even to provoke a hot discussion with your work is not an easy task. However, the artist does not upset negative reviews, she continues to create without looking at them and the bored frames established by public opinion. In this article, let's try to get closer to the Belarusian artist's creativity.

Biography pages

Anna Silivonchik, whose biography is nothing special, was born and grew up in the ancient city of Gomel. In early childhood, talent and a craving for everything beautiful was revealed, thanks to which, besides the usual school, Anna was also sent to the art school. Later there was the Republican Lyceum of Arts, already in Minsk (1992-1999). It was followed by the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, to which Anna entered in 1999 and graduated in 2007.

Since 2008 she is a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. Has Anna Silivonchik and the international award - a medal "Talent and vocation".

Today the works of the young artist are in the National Museum of Belarus, the Minsk Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Russian Art in the USA, the State Museum-Reserve of the city of Elabuga, and are also kept in the collections of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble and private collections of art lovers from around the world.

Images

Anna's characters are very diverse. But they share common features. They are like fairy-tale heroes, kind and sincere, original and expressive. Love, faithfulness, warmth of the hearth, faith in miracles and craving for adventure is what Silivonchik Anna most often sings in her paintings. The artist tries to emphasize the inner beauty of the characters, and not their external data. And this gives them even greater charm.

Looking at the pictures of the artist, we admire children and lovers, animal people, bird people and angelic people. Often the mythological creatures look at us from the pictures: unicorns, dragons, sirens, lions ... An unreal and original world of Anna is populated with amazing types, in which live characters are seen. The world of her paintings is a world of fairy tales and legends of peoples from all over the Earth. These dreams come true and come alive fantasies. These are dreams that do not end with awakening.

Anna Silivonchik's paintings make us think about simple and eternal human values: happiness, joy, love, the birth of a new life. They make you think about the unshakable laws of nature. But the most important thing in them for both the artist and his viewer is the integrity of the world and the inviolable link that exists between all its elements.

Directions in creativity

Of course, Anna pays most attention to the paintings. Most of them are written in oil and acrylic on canvas. But there are among her works and quite unusual: engravings, panels, installations. We can see the unique creations created by Anna Silivonchik. Paintings written by a master often become plots for postcards, calendars, textiles.

Anna uses not only canvas, but also a wide variety of materials: feathers, pieces of cloth, textile patches, crumpled paper, plaques and even newspapers. Her work goes far beyond classical painting.

Inspiring

The artist draws inspiration from the tales of different peoples. Therefore, her paintings are like dreams come true and revived dreams. In search of plots for her works, as well as formal means for their solution, the artist turns to archaic cultural layers, while retaining an invisible but strong connection with the art of the ХХ-XXI century.

The artist's aesthetic orientations resonate with the fantastic realism of Chagall, the naive and touching art of primitivists of the beginning of the last century and, undoubtedly, with folklore and folk decorative and applied art.

Book

It is not in vain to say that talented people are talented in everything. Anna Silivonchik is an artist, illustrator, decorator, and even a poet in addition. She writes touching and naive poems, in many ways reminiscent of her paintings.

And Anna Silivonchik creates pictures for children's books. One of the most famous of them is devoted to Belarusian folklore.

Unusual

Perhaps the most sensational work of Anna can be considered a puppet pair "Adam and Adam's rib". It was created for the international competition Pandora Platinum 2016 and became its laureate in the nomination "Doll of traditional materials."

The work can not be called unambiguous. And it's not just that the growth of dolls is about equal to the human. In some, it causes a rush of hypocrisy, and someone brings to full delight. Indifferent this work does not leave anyone, but is this the ultimate goal of any artist? Anna Silivonchik does not believe that "Adam and the rib" occupy a separate position in her work. The meaning of this work is the same as always - it is about love and tenderness, sincerity and readiness to open up to the end. In it, the artist sings the same eternal values.
