Beetle black: a messenger sent by nature

When a black beetle appears before the eyes of a person, the latter does not actually experience any emotions other than disgust. Many are even afraid of the insects under consideration. But in fact, they can not do any harm to humans, since most black-painted beetles are kind of nurses. They make sure that the area that people can not clean (forests, meadows, even country roads and roads that connect large cities), remained clean.

All that was said above does not at all mean that the black beetle takes in the paws a small mop and washes the floor. Among the rest of the species of this color, the most common are the corpse and gravedigger. Both these insects make a huge contribution to the improvement of meadows and forests, despite their cacophonous names and disgusting appearance. Each of them should be considered in more detail.

The first black beetle is called a corpse. Based on the name, you can understand what, in fact, he eats. Such a representative can not be found in the city, since here in rare cases he can find edible food for him. Most often it is noticed in meadows, arable lands, in the suburbs. It does not grow more than four centimeters, it has a black color. Its antennae have a reddish tinge. Consequently, they are easily confused with purely "decorative" natural representatives. Red-black beetles usually do not take direct part in the processes occurring in nature and human life. But this does not mean that they are completely useless. Even the smallest insect is important. Trupoids eat animals that died or died a natural death.

The next black beetle is called a gravedigger. Representatives of this species are somewhat larger than the corpses. However, they do not feud among themselves. Moreover, they can feel comfortable living in the united colonies. In these cases, their work will proceed at an accelerated pace. But when both species enter the mating period, they separate, because now it is impossible to hurry. Gravediggers are hardworking medics who crawl under the corpses of birds and animals to dig holes beneath them. The beetles feed on carrion. And they find corpses by the smell of decay and decay, which they are able to feel at great distances.

It should be noted that both considered beetles eat not only the decaying animal carcass. They can also act as a predator. But they do not have the ability to hunt for quick insects or small animals. That is why, when there are no corpses nearby, their diet consists of slow caterpillars, snails and slugs.

So, if you meet a black beetle, think for a moment before treading it. This insect by its own hard labor clears any terrain from the corpses of other animals. Thus, it makes your walk in nature more pleasant and comfortable. These beetles relieve you of the unpleasant smell of decay and rot.
