Beer "Groshl Premium Lager": reviews, manufacturer, photo

Today, Groshl beer, produced by Koninklijke Grolsch NV, is known practically all over the world. Of course, fame came to this brand not immediately, the path to fame was not easy and thorny. High standards of quality, excellent raw materials and years of technology - all this served as weighty arguments in the struggle for the love of fans.

Fairy-tale past

In ancient times there was a small brewery in the Dutch town of Groll. Once the old owner sold it to a rich man - William Nirfeldt. Sir William immediately spotted among the workers a diligent and hardworking youth named Peter Kuiper. Appreciating not only the mind and efficiency of the worker, but also his human qualities, the new owner gave him his daughter's wife, and later transferred the management of the brewery to his hands.

It looks like an old fairy tale, is not it? But in fact it is the purest truth. And the history of the beer "Grosh" began this way.

Peter took the reins in his hands in 1660, and the father-in-law never regretted his decision. A reliable person and a true professional, he perfected the technology, bringing it to perfection. This served as the appointment of Peter head of the guild brewers Groll. He taught young specialists, generously shared his experience with colleagues and, of course, personally prepared a wonderful beer. In many respects he surpassed not only his contemporaries - Grosh beer and now he is brewed according to the recipe he invented and in strict accordance with his recommendations.

Pages of History

The old Kuiper brewery for nearly two centuries flourished and belonged to the family, inheriting from his descendants. In the middle of the 19th century, its business was so successful that the production physically could not cope with the growing demands of the market. Prosperity was facilitated by the fact that the bulk of breweries could not keep themselves afloat, and their withdrawal from the market contributed to the growth of consumer demand for Großh's products.

The brewery management decided to move production outside the city, but this large-scale undertaking required too much capital investment, which turned into a financial collapse for the family. In 1897 the Kuiper had to sell the brewery to the Theo de Grona family.

The new owner continued the production of beer under the same name Grolsch. And it turned out that the brand only won from the arrival of the new management. In the same year, a bottle of a unique shape appeared, today known as swing-top.

Grolsch refuses brown glass bottles of reusable use in favor of unique green with a folding porcelain lid. Today they are the distinctive brand name of the brand. Although, of course, not forgotten and classic. Ordinary packaging is not uncommon, it also produces beer "Grosh". The manufacturer leaves the buyer with the choice. The price depends on the bottle (ceramic covers are more expensive).

The de Grohn family turned the brewery into one of the largest breweries in the region. In the beginning of the 20th century he started to produce soft drinks, but beer remained in priority.

The language barrier

Do not cut your ears, does not it seem unusual to use the name "Grosh" beer? Reviews about this product, sounded almost at the same time across Europe, converge on the content, but so different in form! After all, many people call this beer in different words. The majority of Russian-speaking people speak the usual "Grolsh". Approximately the same transcription is inherent in those who speak English. If you read this word according to the rules of the German language, you will get "Grolsh" - and that's how the Germans call this beer. In fact, the name is Dutch and the rules of reading in this language are slightly different. In the homeland of this beer, in the Netherlands, this word is read as "Hrolls". Often you can hear and "Grouls".

The difference in reading is just an interesting detail, but in fact, all this language confusion does not prevent beer lovers who speak different languages from understanding what kind of variety they are talking about.

Water in beer

In Holland, and in the rest of the world over the past decade, an uncountable number of varieties of beer. Along with the dark and light classics, you can find white, black and red beer, and some subspecies in general can be classified with great difficulty, and it is sometimes difficult to determine to which grade the beer "Grošš" belongs. The photo of glasses filled with this beer is sometimes more reminiscent of the vodka or light varieties of wine.

Such a space for the creativity of Dutch brewers causes geography. The water in those parts is simply excellent and ideal for beer production. But after all, both professionals and amateurs perfectly know how much depends on it.

The secret of such success is in the water. Both subtle beer connoisseurs and professionals are well aware of how much water characteristics affect the taste and quality of beer. So, Holland in this regard was lucky. Water is not only a lot, but it is also excellent for making beer.

Four seasons

Among the company's assortment you can find classic varieties, and quite unusual. And although most beer admirers around the world remain true to the most popular grade Grossch "Premium Lager", other species are also very popular.

In 1995 the company started an interesting experiment and offered several novelties to the court of consumers. Brewers have always been inclined to believe that light beer is better to drink in the heat, and dark is ideal for cold winter evenings. Grolsh went even further and released four varieties of beer, just for every season of the year.

For example, the strong beer Grolsch Lentebok the manufacturer recommends to drink in the spring, and the golden Grolsch Zomergoud - in the summer. The fragrant dark Grolsch Herfstbok is a great option for cool autumn, but Grolsh Wintervorst will warm in winter.

The collection is complemented by the amber ale Grolsch Amber Ale and the dark brown Grolsch Dark Brown beer . Those who love everything unusual, necessarily like the beer fruit-flavored Zinniz with the aroma of fruit. Do not remain without attention and "teetotalers" - specially for them produced a special malt variety Grolsch Special Malt, without a degree. Here it is worth mentioning that Grolsch even mastered the production of vegetarian beer.

The famous "Lager"

The most popular brand in the world from this producer is Groshl beer "Premium Lager" light. It is brewed from classical ingredients by a special technology of lower fermentation. "In order to cook excellent beer, you need malt, cold and conscience," the Dutch brewers joke. It is these three ingredients that underlie the remarkable quality of camp beer. This variety has a small fortress - 5%. And drink it is recommended, very well chilled. Although even if your gatherings are delayed, the temperature of the drink in the glass rises above the reference mark of 6-8 ° C, the Groshl beer will not turn into a hideous slime, but will continue to please with taste, aroma and foam.

Bottle

The brown bottle is supplied to the domestic market of the Netherlands most often, and the green bottle is used for export. However, the manufacturer often uses also glass of other colors: transparent, light brown, yellow.

The cult of the bottle "Grolsh" with a hinged lid was reflected even in art. She often appears on graffiti, becomes part of the installation.

Sometimes even glassware made from a classic glass bottle of beer with the help of special technology: beer glasses, glasses, plates for sushi and snacks. Of course, the usual beer container would not have looked so charismatic in the form of an art object, as it turns out in an unusual bottle from "Grolsh".

All this indicates that among the admirers of good beer, a kind of cult of Dutch beer "Grossh Lager" was formed.

Beer snacks

Like other varieties, "Grossh" is better to drink chilled. Seafood dishes, dried fish, smoked sausages, shish kebab and grilled meat are good for it.
