Beauty of nature - sea Adriatic

The Mediterranean Sea is a huge and diverse area, which is washed by its waves of the coast of two continents - Europe and Africa. It consists of many small seas with poetic names: Marble, Ionian, Ligurian. Part of this great whole is also the Adriatic Sea.

It is located in the middle between the two peninsulas - the Balkan and the Apennines - and it is washed by the coasts of such states as Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Italy. And here its unusual name is the sea - the Adriatic - was received thanks to the ancient Greeks. In the old days, on its shores, between the rivers Po and Adige, was the port city of Adria. Now no one would have guessed that there was a port at this place - because of sandy deposits for two thousand years the land moved deep into the sea, and Adria is located as much as 25 kilometers from the sea shore. Initially, this name was only called the northern part of the sea, which was directly around the port, but gradually the name passed to the entire reservoir.

The area occupied by the Adriatic Sea is no less than 144,000 square kilometers. It communicates with the Ionian Sea through the Straits of Otranto. The depth of the seabed varies - it gradually decreases from 20 meters in the north of the reservoir to 1230 in the southeast. It is very convenient for navigation - due to the fact that near the coast the depth of the bottom is sufficient for passage of vessels. In addition, in the Adriatic Sea there are several very convenient for raiding bays, such as the Venetian, Manfredonia, Trieste Bay. The ships are not disturbed by the Dalmatian islands located in the middle of the Adriatic.

Due to the fact that the sea coast is mostly sandy and pebble, it has tourist and resort areas. The temperature of the Adriatic Sea in its northern parts ranges from +7 degrees Celsius in the winter to +24 at the height of the summer season. In the southern parts, these fluctuations constitute a descent from +13 degrees in winter to +26 in summer. Due to the climatic conditions in the summer, the Adriatic becomes a paradise - it is mostly dry and sunny. But in winter the rainy season begins, when the entire coast suffers from cloudy wet weather.

The sea of the Adriatic is rich in flora and fauna. Only the species of algae - red, brown and green - there are more than 700. The fauna is represented by a wide variety of gastropods, echinoderms and bivalve mollusks - mussels, oysters, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and stars. Also frequent guests in the networks of local sailors moray eels, mackerel, sardines, pelamida. Of predators, there are several species of sharks at depth , such as black, blue, giant. And near the coast, frequent swimmers of swimmers are dolphins and seals.

This is it, warm and deep, the Adriatic Sea. You can appreciate its charm by visiting the most famous resorts - Dubrovnik, Split, Budva Riviera, Rimini or Cattolica. The charm of this sea will not only be the wonderful beaches, warm sea and wonderful Mediterranean climate, but also delicious dishes from its inhabitants, which are famous for the cuisine of those countries that are located on the banks of the Adriatic.
